刻意練習(xí)(Deliberate Practice)是美國心理學(xué)家安德斯·艾利克森(Anders Ericsson)在2016年提出的,刻意練習(xí)要堅(jiān)持聚焦主題(Focus)、練習(xí)與反饋(Feedback)和糾正與修改(Fix it)三個(gè)原則。刻意練習(xí)發(fā)生在人們的舒適區(qū)外,學(xué)習(xí)者從自己熟練掌握的技能舒服區(qū)走出來,持續(xù)不斷地嘗試那些剛好超出他當(dāng)前能力范圍的事情??桃饩毩?xí)包含反饋以及為應(yīng)對(duì)那些反饋而進(jìn)行調(diào)整的努力,在練習(xí)過程的早期,大量的反饋來自導(dǎo)師或教練,他們將監(jiān)測學(xué)生的進(jìn)步、指出存在的問題,并且提供解決這些問題的方法。隨著時(shí)間的推移,學(xué)生必須學(xué)會(huì)自己監(jiān)測自己、自己發(fā)現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤,并做出相應(yīng)調(diào)整。
中職英語口語的最終目的是培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的職場語言溝通能力。而職場語言溝通的有效性又包括溝通中準(zhǔn)確提取關(guān)鍵信息,語言表達(dá)得體,語言有邏輯性和針對(duì)性等,在此基礎(chǔ)上,如果語言靈活且幽默,那么溝通效果會(huì)更佳。要想提高中職學(xué)生的職場語言溝通能力,筆者選擇將刻意練習(xí)的三個(gè)原則應(yīng)用于課堂實(shí)踐中,并對(duì)具體實(shí)施策略進(jìn)行了闡述,旨在交流與共勉。
通用場景來源于學(xué)生日常的學(xué)習(xí)與應(yīng)用,學(xué)生對(duì)這些通用場景一般較為熟悉,教師可以利用這個(gè)特點(diǎn),設(shè)置情景,使學(xué)生帶著興趣和自信積極地投入練習(xí)活動(dòng)中。如果學(xué)生比較感興趣且活動(dòng)時(shí)間有余的話,還可以提出更多的本地地點(diǎn)讓學(xué)生進(jìn)行對(duì)話練習(xí),比如附近的超市、銀行、醫(yī)院等,均可以設(shè)置場景完成對(duì)話。在刻意練習(xí)的指導(dǎo)下,學(xué)生可以不斷地糾正與修改自身的語言表達(dá),使語言表達(dá)更準(zhǔn)確、得體,從而達(dá)到語言溝通的目的。
在生活中,問路是學(xué)生最為常見的情景,也是作為學(xué)生必須熟練掌握的內(nèi)容,學(xué)生通過在通用環(huán)境中體驗(yàn)英語交流,能積極而自信地加入課堂教學(xué)活動(dòng)中。通過學(xué)習(xí)與問路相關(guān)的詞匯和句型,學(xué)生能聽懂簡單的問路對(duì)話并學(xué)說問路語句。以最近的地鐵站subway station為例,為鞏固“地鐵”這一新詞匯,筆者設(shè)計(jì)了尋找地鐵站的場景。

邀請(qǐng)一名口語表達(dá)較好的學(xué)生模擬對(duì)話,將學(xué)生在對(duì)話中出現(xiàn)的錯(cuò)誤表達(dá)記錄在黑板上(本場景要求學(xué)生詞匯準(zhǔn)確,語法正確,符合場景)。

指路是學(xué)生日常生活中常見的事例,也是必須熟練掌握的內(nèi)容,學(xué)生通過在真實(shí)的語言環(huán)境中體驗(yàn)英語,能積極而自信地完成課堂教學(xué)活動(dòng)。通過學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生能根據(jù)指路基本句型開展指路對(duì)話,能了解不同文化背景下問路與指路的禮儀,并能作為2022年杭州亞運(yùn)會(huì)的志愿者給外國友人指路。2022年杭州亞運(yùn)會(huì)是一個(gè)很好的體驗(yàn)英語學(xué)習(xí)及運(yùn)用的平臺(tái),面對(duì)即將到來的亞運(yùn)會(huì),教師可以設(shè)置學(xué)生當(dāng)志愿者的場景,讓學(xué)生學(xué)到能在真實(shí)的情景中運(yùn)用的表達(dá)。
For example: You are a volunteer of the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, a foreigner wants to go to the Olympic Sports Center. You give the directions. Please design a map and give the directions to the Olympic Sports Center. Then make a dialogue.
教師可以將全班分成八個(gè)學(xué)習(xí)小組,每個(gè)小組都擁有英語學(xué)習(xí)程度不同的學(xué)生,形成一個(gè)英語互助小組,以優(yōu)帶困。在對(duì)話過程中,英語較好的學(xué)生可以幫助后進(jìn)生糾錯(cuò),教師在全班巡視,幫助學(xué)生解決自身無法解決的問題。本場景要求學(xué)生以學(xué)習(xí)小組的形式交流完成任務(wù),解決問題,并且要求學(xué)生的表達(dá)具有邏輯性和針對(duì)性。以想坐公交車去杭州奧體中心為例,對(duì)話如下。
Mr.Brown: Excuse me, can you tell me the way to the badminton field?
Volunteer: Of course, do you want to take the bus or the subway?
Mr.Brown: I’d like to take the bus, I want to have a look at the city.
Volunteer: Cross the road and turn left, then follow the road until you see the stop.
Mr.Brown: How long does it take to get to the badminton?
Volunteer: It’s about 30 minutes, it’s not very far.
Mr.Brown: Thank you. Anyway, I should find the bus stop first.
該同學(xué)指路的表述基本順暢,用詞和語法也基本準(zhǔn)確。但是否具有邏輯性和針對(duì)性呢?經(jīng)過各個(gè)學(xué)習(xí)小組的討論,給出兩點(diǎn)反饋:一是指路要言簡意賅,盡量避免過多詞匯而造成語義不明確;二是要交代清楚到達(dá)公交車站具體需要搭乘幾路公交車。
教師在表達(dá)的邏輯性和針對(duì)性方面給予指導(dǎo)。

改:Go along the road, the bus stop is across the road. You can’t miss it.

對(duì)學(xué)生來說,指路表述是必備的知識(shí),通過設(shè)計(jì)這個(gè)情景讓學(xué)生進(jìn)行指路與問路,可以提高學(xué)生的參與積極性。其中,給出的地點(diǎn)有近有遠(yuǎn),這也要求學(xué)生對(duì)本節(jié)課和上節(jié)課的內(nèi)容進(jìn)行綜合運(yùn)用?;顒?dòng)有一定的難度,但由于是小組合作活動(dòng),學(xué)生在思考后也能夠完成此任務(wù)。教師在設(shè)置情景時(shí),可以嘗試鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生自發(fā)地寫出一些問路場景,然后將這些場景集中在一起,由各小組指派一名成員抽簽,并將抽到的場景作為該組的聚焦學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù),經(jīng)過小組討論,各自分工,以優(yōu)帶困,以及刻意練習(xí)的反復(fù)斟酌,糾正修改,使語言表達(dá)具有邏輯性和針對(duì)性,最終完成該任務(wù)。
《中等職業(yè)學(xué)校英語課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)》要求在日常英語的基礎(chǔ)上,圍繞職場相關(guān)主題,運(yùn)用所學(xué)語言知識(shí),以口頭或書面形式進(jìn)行基本溝通。教師可以設(shè)定一個(gè)走向職場的場景,如為旅游專業(yè)的學(xué)生設(shè)定一個(gè)向外賓介紹杭州的場景,要求學(xué)生用英語講好中國故事,傳播中國文化。

通過觀看視頻,學(xué)習(xí)國際導(dǎo)游地道的表達(dá)方法。本場景要求學(xué)生理解文化、尊重文化,學(xué)會(huì)有效的溝通方式。通過觀看國際導(dǎo)游帶領(lǐng)外國游客游覽中國名勝古跡等視頻,學(xué)生可以學(xué)習(xí)國際導(dǎo)游介紹景點(diǎn)的語言,理解中西方不同的文化差異,用靈活幽默的語言講好中國故事,傳播中國傳統(tǒng)文化。

中國文化博大精深,用英語講好中國故事,可以將中國5000多年的優(yōu)秀文化傳播出去。當(dāng)然,要達(dá)到這個(gè)目標(biāo),需要教師根據(jù)學(xué)生的實(shí)際情況設(shè)計(jì)教學(xué)目標(biāo)與教學(xué)過程,通過情景設(shè)置,調(diào)動(dòng)學(xué)生參與學(xué)習(xí)的主動(dòng)性,讓學(xué)生在有目的、有節(jié)奏的情景和活動(dòng)中學(xué)習(xí)英語口語表達(dá),并且學(xué)有成效。學(xué)生通過學(xué)習(xí),能夠?qū)χ袊鴥?yōu)秀文化有更深刻的理解和認(rèn)知,有助于用英語講好中國故事??桃饩毩?xí)的指導(dǎo)對(duì)語言表達(dá)的要求更高,學(xué)生要能夠靈活地進(jìn)行對(duì)話,幽默地進(jìn)行表達(dá),為今后的職業(yè)生涯打下堅(jiān)實(shí)的英語基礎(chǔ)。
