表示因果關(guān)系的幾種“高級”英語表達(dá)例析

在寫作中，我們常常會用到表示因果關(guān)系的連接詞。然而，許多同學(xué)翻來覆去地就是運(yùn)用“because”“so”“because of”這幾個常用詞，導(dǎo)致表達(dá)方式比較單調(diào)。對此，筆者歸納了一些表示因果關(guān)系的高級英語表達(dá)，以期對同學(xué)們的寫作有所助益。

一、therefore/consequently/accordingly

Therefore/consequently/accordingly表示結(jié)果，意為“因此，所以”。例如：

①Therefore/Consequently/Accordingly，we should do our best to protect wildlife.因此，我們應(yīng)該竭盡全力地去保護(hù)野生動物。

②Therefore/Consequently/Accordingly，we must make efforts to take exercise for the benefit of our health.因此，為了我們的健康，我們必須努力鍛煉身體。

二、due/owing to

due/owing to表示原因，意為“因?yàn)椋捎凇?。例如?/p>

①Due/Owing to the help from his teacher，he has made great progress in English.由于老師的幫助，他在英語方面進(jìn)步很大。

②Due/Owing to the lack of work experience，they wasted much time and energy.由于缺乏工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)，他們浪費(fèi)了很多時間和精力。

三、on account of

on account of表示原因，意為“因?yàn)?，由于”。例如?/p>

①The basketball match was put off on account of bad weather.因?yàn)樘鞖鈵毫?，籃球比賽被推遲了。

②He has to give up his plan on account of lack of money.由于資金不足，他不得不放棄他的計(jì)劃。

四、as a result/consequence of

as a result/consequence of表示原因，意為“由于，因?yàn)椤?。例如?/p>

①M(fèi)any areas are short of water，as a result/conse-quence of the rape of the forests.由于森林遭到破壞，許多地區(qū)水資源短缺。

②As a result/consequence of the heavy fog，all flights have been delayed.由于霧太大，所有航班都延誤了。

五、as a result/consequence

as a result/consequence表示結(jié)果，意為“因此，所以”。例如：

①As a result/consequence，we must face our mis-takes bravely and try to learn from them.因此，我們必須勇敢面對錯誤，并努力從中吸取教訓(xùn)。

②As a result/consequence，I think kindness shouldn’t be abandoned.所以，我認(rèn)為善良不應(yīng)該被拋棄。

六、for the reason that

for the reason that表示原因，意為“因?yàn)椋颍ɡ碛桑┦恰?。例如?/p>

①We were proud of ourselves for the reason that we were approved.我們驕傲，因?yàn)槲覀儷@得了認(rèn)可。

②He intends to give up his job，for the reason that he can’t stand the pressure.他打算放棄他的工作，理由是他無法忍受這種壓力。

七、with the result that

with the result that意為“結(jié)果是，因此”。例如

①He missed the bus，with the result that he was late for school.他錯過了公交車，結(jié)果是他上學(xué)遲到了。

②I was repairing my bike，with the result that I didn’thearthe telephone.我那時正在修自行車，因此沒有聽到電話鈴聲。

八、The reason why...is that...

The reason why...is that...意為“之所以……是因?yàn)椤薄＠纾?/p>

①The reason why she did it is that she wouldn’t let her parents feel disappointed.她之所以做這件事，是因?yàn)樗幌胱尭改甘?/p>

②The reason why I admire Yuan Longping is that he is a great rice scientist.我之所以佩服袁隆平，是因?yàn)樗且晃粋ゴ蟮乃究茖W(xué)家。

總之，要想寫出出彩的作文，唯有日積月累，方能厚積薄發(fā)。因此，在平時的學(xué)習(xí)中，同學(xué)們要注意多讀多記，加強(qiáng)積累，從而夯實(shí)寫作基礎(chǔ)。
