——元旦晚會(huì)通知

【寫作任務(wù)】

假定你是學(xué)生會(huì)主席李華，你校將組織一場元旦晚會(huì)（New Year party），請你用英語寫一則書面通知，告知你校的國際交換生參加，內(nèi)容包括：（1）時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)；（2）晚會(huì)節(jié)目安排；（3）歡迎參加。

Notice

With the New Year approaching,a fancinating⑴New Year party will be organized⑵from 18:00 to 21:00 on Dec.29th.Exchange students can participate in it,too.⑶

The party will⑷consist of two parts.First,each class will put on an excellent performance based on students’taste,whose topic ranges from adapted historical acts to sing and dancing.⑸As for the second part,we will have some quizes⑹,and w inners will be given some delicate gifts⑺.

Your participation⑻is sincerely welcomed.

【劉教授批改】

（1）拼寫錯(cuò)誤，正確的拼寫是fascinating。

（2）organize用在這里不準(zhǔn)確，organize an event or activity的意思是make sure that the necessary arrangements are made（含有“事先安排好”的意思），但后面卻有具體的晚會(huì)舉辦時(shí)間（18:00 to 21:00），改為held更合適。

（3）這句話是漢語“交換生也能參加”的字面翻譯，屬于漢語式表達(dá)。首先，情態(tài)動(dòng)詞can用在這里不合適：（1）You use“can”to indicate that someone has the ability or opportunity to do something.（有能力做某事）；（2）You use“can”to indicate that someone is allowed to do something.（允許某人做某事）。顯然，這里需要表達(dá)的并不是這兩層意思，而是“邀請”的意思，改為：Exchange students are(warmly)invited to participate in it.其次，too用在這里也不合適。這個(gè)銜接詞的前面并沒有值得銜接的成分。如果前一句有哪一類學(xué)生應(yīng)邀參加，后一句可以用too。

（4）在發(fā)布這個(gè)通知的時(shí)候，晚會(huì)的內(nèi)容應(yīng)該是已經(jīng)確定好了的，是一個(gè)事實(shí)（fact）。這里用w ill反而含有不確定性。

（5）這句話的問題較多。首先是選詞：excellent屬于評(píng)價(jià)詞，用于自身有自我吹噓之嫌，最好用事實(shí)性的形容詞，如long-prepared,carefully-designed等。Based on students’taste這里的students指代不清楚，究竟是哪些同學(xué)的品位？可以改為each class will put on their long-prepared and choice performance...這里的choice是形容詞，意思是“appealing to refined taste（精選的，高品位的）”。sing改為singing；historical acts改為historical plays,acts在這里容易誤解為“行為”。其次是結(jié)構(gòu)：whose從句顯得臃腫，沒有必要使用，改為：each class will put on their long-prepared and choice performance,such as adapted historical plays,singing and dancing.或each class w ill put on their long-prepared and choice performance,adapted historical plays,singing and dancing,just to mention a few.

（6）quiz的復(fù)數(shù)形式為quizzes。

（7）delicate這個(gè)詞不僅有“精美的”意思，還含有“容易損壞的”意思（exquisitely fine and subtle and pleasing;susceptible to injury），改為：precious/valuable/memorable/interesting/selective/beautiful/fanciful gifts。

（8）participation的意思是“sharing in the activity of a group,engagement,involvement”（參與活動(dòng)當(dāng)中）。但從通知的內(nèi)容看，并未要求交換生準(zhǔn)備節(jié)目，而只是出席晚會(huì)，因此改為attendance。

【劉教授總結(jié)】

這則通知比較準(zhǔn)確地表達(dá)了要求表達(dá)的內(nèi)容，但缺少告知晚會(huì)的地點(diǎn)。語言上的主要問題有：

（1）選詞不準(zhǔn)確，大多基于漢語的意思來選詞。建議今后記憶單詞時(shí)，多記英語的釋義。

（2）情態(tài)動(dòng)詞can,will的掌握不到位，建議平時(shí)閱讀時(shí)多注意情態(tài)動(dòng)詞使用的語境。

（3）因刻意追求語法結(jié)構(gòu)的多樣性，導(dǎo)致內(nèi)容表達(dá)不清晰、不簡明。應(yīng)用文的功能是清晰、準(zhǔn)確地傳達(dá)信息，復(fù)雜的句子結(jié)構(gòu)適得其反。
