北京師范大學比較文學與英美文學教授，中國比較文學學會終身成就獎獲得者之一。曾是倫敦大學伯克貝克學院中英友好獎學金訪問學者、兩屆美國富布萊特學者，曾任國際比較文學學會理事、中國比較文學學會副會長，擔任《中國比較文學》編委、《外國文學評論》編委。主要著作有：《比較文學概論》（合著）、《從比較文學到比較文化》等；譯著：《文學理論》（合譯）、《比較文學與文學理論》《當代文學理論導讀》《后現(xiàn)代轉向》《辨異：續(xù)<批評的諸種概念>》（合譯）等；編著：《后殖民主義文化理論》（合編）、《從現(xiàn)代主義到后現(xiàn)代主義》（合編）、《文化研究讀本》（合編）、《外國文論簡史》等。
