Abstract:This paper interprets the connotation of “technical art”, shows the international status of technical art through cases, and introduces the work carried out by the Central Academy of Fine Arts in technical art. It explains the significance of the integration of technology and art, demonstrates the relationship between popular science and aesthetic education combining with exhibition planning cases. In the end, it puts forward that the history of technology is a method to connect science, art and technology; the history of science and technology should be closely integrated with the history of art, and aesthetic education should be paid attention to in science popularization.

Abstract:Natural history museums in western countries had never taken science as the only supporting strength for exhibition design. During its evolution, the influence of art and culture cannot be underestimated. This paper, beginning from western history, religion and culture background, analyzes the scientific ideas, cultural and artistic phenomenon long-term implicated in exhibition design of natural history museums, as well as its design method and influence range. At the end of the paper, it makes expectation of some attemptable breakthrough directions for subject concept and theoretical foundation of new type of natural history museums.

Abstract:By analyzing the history of China Science and Technology Museum since its opening 30 years ago , this paper reviews the gradual progress of colliding, merging, taking advantage of, uniting, finally becoming a perfect pair and making mutual achievement of science and art in the popular science exhibition.From the perspective of education and communication, it puts forward some thoughts on strengthening the breadth and depth of the science and art combination in the content and form of exhibition. Then, some countermeasures are proposed in this paper, such as strengthening the qualified personnel construction, exploring more ways of cooperation and integrating the concept of science and art combination into the whole process of exhibition. They are expected to provide references for science and technology museum to promote the fusion of science and art in it, and achieve its educational goal of cultivating innovative talents with both scientific and artistic spirit.

Abstract:The parent-child educational activities in museums can promote parent-child interaction and communication, and help parents better understand and discover children in activities. This paper analyzes parent-child conversation happened in museum educational activities from three dimensions of cognition, behavior and emotion, compares the differences of different conversation types and the entire conversation types. It analyzes the differences of conversation contents in different teaching steps and among different families. It is hoped that the research results could bring beneficial enlightenment to the design and development of educational activities in the future.

Abstract:This paper reviews the researches on the application of social media by museums at home and abroad. It is found that studies abroad mainly focus on some topics, such as the discussion of the social media influence on museum authority, the comprehensive analysis of the application of social media by museums, the strategies application of social media promoting museum education, the social media influence on museum management, and the publication of industry guidelines for social media application. These topics range from analyzing the feasibility of social media applications to observing their effects, then to thinking about their impact and proposing preliminary application specifications. On the other side, domestic research topics can be obviously divided into three periods: the embryonic stage focusing on drawing inspiration, the practice stage focusing on communication and marketing, and the practice and discussion stage of museums’ core functions. In general, more attention is paid to the positive effects of social media applications. Compared with researches abroad, the domestic researches mainly focus on communication and marketing, especially on phenomenal operation strategies of the social media platform of museums. In the quantitative researches on the social media application in domestic museums, the types of research objects are relatively scarce. A few studies focus on the impact of social media on the museums’ core education function and related management mechanisms, but few focus on how to regulate the operation of social media to ensure the authority and credibility of museums.

Abstract:Learning in science and technology museums is the most important form of informal learning. STEM project-based course of utilizing exhibits resources is the learning carrier of education transformation under the concept of “museum-school combination” and “museum learning” of science and technology museums. This paper expounded the STEM project-based course development principals in science and technology museums from the perspectives of STEM educational course model, informal learning characteristics, project-based learning model and big concept-based course design. In addition, the current research built a STEM project-based curriculum system including seven core elements. This paper, through analyzing and interpreting the course case in Wenzhou Science and Technology Museum developed by applying this model, aims to provide a framework for the development of STEM project-based courses in science and technology museums.

Abstract:In the 1970s, a series of changes in the social, economic and political fields have prompted museums, heritage sites and other cultural exhibiting sites to turn their attention to ‘experience’. Experience is not only a new way of dialogue with the past, but also the inevitable path after the rise of the cultural industry. In this case, museums focus on the collections, protection and researches relating to the objects have turned to the interest, behavior and visiting effect of the audience. Accordingly, experience has become a means for the museum to achieve its public mission and build its image. However, is the experience as good as it is portrayed?TheMuseuminTransition:APhilosophicalPerspective, written by Hilde Hein, discusses the transition of museum focus from object to experience and its influence on the role of the museum under the framework of philosophy; it also expresses concerns about the museum experience and the declaration of diversity. Hein’s discussion of experience offers fresh ideas and directions for reflecting on the museum development.

Abstract:Deep influences made by western countries on politics, economy, culture and other fields of modern China led the construction of natural history museums to two different directions. The methodological shift of biological research in the West that from the narrow sense of natural history to experimental physiology, the development trend of the educational function of museums and the social background of foreign powers invading modern China, jointly promoted the establishment of modern Chinese natural history museums. The modern Chinese natural history museums built by westerners were part of the European natural history collection system. SuchResearchTypeMuseumshad strong research attributes and was not aimed at serving Chinese society, so its influence was limited. People of different hierarchies in modern China made their own responses to disseminating the concept and practice of natural history museums. They took the responsibility of saving the nation in the age of decay and awakening; the establishment of a group ofPublicEducationTypeMuseumsdemonstrated their quest for science and hope for the future of the country. These museums truly served to convey the public value of science.
