1. Clear the air
a. To get rid of stale or bad air 換氣，透氣
e.g. Open some windows and clear the air. It’s stuffy in here.
b. To get rid of doubts or hard feelings 坦誠(chéng)相見
e.g. All right， let’s discuss this frankly. It’ll be better if we clear the air.
2. Clear the way！ 讓開！
Please move aside， because sb. or sth. is coming through and needs room
e.g. The movers were shouting “Clear the way！” as they took the piano out of the house.
3. Clear as crystal
a. Very clear； transparent 清澈透明
e.g. The stream was clear as crystal.
b. Easy to understand 清楚易懂
e.g. The teacher’s explanation was clear as crystal.
4. Clear sb.’s name 為某人正名
To prove that sb. is not guilty of a crime or misdeed
e.g. I was accused of theft， but the lawyer helped clear my name.
5. Clear sth. with sb. 在某事上征得某人同意
To get sb.’s approval for sth.
e.g. You will have to clear this expenditure with the main office.
