在英語(yǔ)的單項(xiàng)選擇題中,常常會(huì)考查對(duì)這幾個(gè)代詞的區(qū)分:one, ones; the one, the ones; that, those。

下面筆者通過(guò)例句對(duì)這幾個(gè)詞進(jìn)行區(qū)分,希望對(duì)同學(xué)們有所幫助。

1. one和ones都是泛指前面出現(xiàn)的可數(shù)名詞,one指代單數(shù),相當(dāng)于a/an+單數(shù)名詞。ones指代復(fù)數(shù),相當(dāng)于復(fù)數(shù)名詞。例如:

——There is still a copy of the book in the library. Will you go and borrow it?

——No, Id rather buy one in the bookstore.(07 陜西高考)

(one=a copy of the book)

Cars do cause us some health problems—in fact far more serious ones than mobile phones do.(05江西高考)

(ones=health problems)

2. the one和the ones都是特指前面提到的可數(shù)名詞,the one指代單數(shù),相當(dāng)于the+可數(shù)名詞單數(shù),有時(shí)可用that替代(尤其在有后置定語(yǔ)的情況下)。the ones指代復(fù)數(shù),相當(dāng)于the+可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù),有時(shí)可用those替代(尤其在有后置定語(yǔ)的情況下)。例如:

——Where did the scholarship of this term you had got go, Lucy?

——On a computer, the one/that on the desk over there. (05福建達(dá)標(biāo)質(zhì)檢)

(the one=the computer)

The books on the desk are more interesting than the ones/those in the box.

3. that和 those 都是特指,that用來(lái)代替前面出現(xiàn)的的單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞或不可數(shù)名詞,相當(dāng)于the+單數(shù)/不可數(shù)名詞,需要有后置定語(yǔ)。those用來(lái)代替可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù),也常需要有后置定語(yǔ)。例如:

The information on the Internet gets around much more rapidly than that in the newspaper.(07遼寧高考)

(that=the information)

I like the flowers in the garden very much, but I dont like those grown in pots.

(those=the flowers)
