在國內(nèi)，剛上班的新人，剛?cè)胛榈男卤紩艿健扒拜叀眰兊牧硌巯嗫春吞厥庹疹?。只有?jīng)歷這種“洗禮”的人，方能開始正常的工作學(xué)習(xí)。西方國家對待新人也是如此，不同行業(yè)不同情景之下對新人的說法不同，稍微不注意就會用錯。
Greenhorn 是用來形容沒經(jīng)驗的新來成員的貼切比喻。Greenhorn 最早出現(xiàn)在15世紀(jì)，原始意義指“長著嫩角的小?！保髞硪隇椤皠?cè)胛榈男卤?，不久后，人們干脆就用greenhorn來比喻“新手，沒有經(jīng)驗的人”，例如：
I am a greenhorn in this field.
在這行，我是個生手。
There's nothing funnier than watching a greenhorn in action.
沒有什么比看一位沒經(jīng)驗的新手表演更滑稽了。
由于幼稚、沒有經(jīng)驗的人容易上當(dāng)受騙，所以，greenhorn又指“頭腦簡單，容易上當(dāng)?shù)娜恕薄?例如：
He is such a greenhorn that he can be cheated by any one.他呆頭呆腦的，誰都騙得了他。
所以當(dāng)別人說你是個greenhorn時，這可是有點貶義，這個詞用在自己身上可以，描述別人時，可得謹(jǐn)慎，你很可能在鄙視別人為“菜鳥”或“笨蛋”，不要隨便用。以下詞與greenhorn一樣，可以普遍表示新手，沒經(jīng)驗的新人，也可引申為“菜鳥、笨蛋”，但各自都有其最原始的使用場合。
rookie
球隊新隊員（尤指第一年參加聯(lián)賽的職業(yè)球隊的新隊員），新入選選手，也指俱樂部的新成員。

pigeon（俚語）
He was a pigeon， a victim of the game.
他上當(dāng)受騙了。
Bill saw before him a fat pigeon to pluck， and he proceeded gaily to the task.
比爾看到在他面前有個傻里傻氣的人大有錢財可騙，于是就得意地動起手來。
lamb（俚語，尤指在證券交易方面）
He was like a lamb in the hands of the swindlers， and they fleeced him of all his savings.
