Yuan Jiajun and Hu Henghua Meeting with Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’,Prime Minister of Nepal

On September 26, Yuan Jiajun, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, met with Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal, visiting Chongqing.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ expressed great appreciation to Chongqing for attaching great importance to friendly exchanges with Nepal.He noted that Nepal and China are friends and partners that have always rendered each other mutual understanding,mutual dependence, and mutual support.The two countries have also expanded cooperation and exchanges.Chongqing is a time-honored and vibrant city, and its development and achievement are also commendable.Nepal thanked Chongqing for its support towards Nepal’s development.It also stands ready to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation,facilitate trade between Nepal and the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-Hub Mega-Region, and further enhance practical cooperation with Chongqing in agriculture, trade and commerce, and tourism, so as to promote the prosperity of both countries.

The attendees also included representatives from Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and the municipal departments.

On September 15, Yuan Jiajun, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, met with To Lam, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, and the delegation.

To Lam noted that Vietnam attaches great importance to its comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership with China.Chongqing boasts a prime location and a solid industrial foundation.Vietnam will further its cooperation with Chongqing in economy and trade, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, as well as transport and logistics, and move forward with bilateral relations.

The attendees also included representatives from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the municipal departments of Chongqing.

Yuan Jiajun and Hu Henghua Meeting with the Rector of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory

On September 17, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, met with Alexander Sokolov, Rector of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and the delegation, and also witnessed the signing of MoU.

Margarita Karatygina, Vice Rector of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and Chongqing municipal leaders, including Chen Mingbo, Chen Xinwu, and Zhang Anjiang, attended the meeting.

Yuan Jiajun noted that Chongqing fully implements the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Russia, and strives to make more contributions to deepen the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new era.Chongqing, located in Western China, is a major hub for opening-up in inland China, an important industrial city, and a famous historical and cultural city.Chongqing is fully implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and striving to build a modern new Chongqing.Chongqing and Russia enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges.Collaborating to establish a branch in Chongqing, in partnership with the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, a globally acclaimed music institution,will serve as a catalyst for nurturing and engaging a greater number of young individuals in preserving and advancing traditional culture and art.Furthermore, it will foster stronger bonds of friendship between people from both countries.It is hoped that both sides will make joint efforts to develop signature programs in China-Russia cultural cooperation, to deliver more benefits for the two peoples.

Sokolov thanked Chongqing for the attention and support for the cooperation.He noted that China and Russia have a long legacy of friendly exchanges.The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory eagerly seeks to collaborate with Chongqing to facilitate the implementation of the program, exchange expertise and experience in classical music education, foster cultural and art exchanges between the two countries, and make significant contributions to broader China-Russia cooperation in various domains.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, Chongqing is committed to actively supporting the establishment of the Chongqing Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music, a collaborative institution between Chongqing Normal University and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia, to develop high-level musical talent.

Heads of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, relevant companies, departments, and universities attended the meeting.

The Reception for the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China was held in Chongqing on September 25.Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, attended and addressed the reception.

Chongqing municipal leaders, including Zhao Shiqing, Zhang Guozhi, and Duan Chenggang, attended the reception.

Zhao Shiqing Attending the 2023 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges

On September 21, the 2023 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges was hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in Shenzhen.Themed“Towards Sustainable Development for All”, the Forum was attended and addressed by Xiao Jie, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

Yang Wanming, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Luo Wenzhi, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress,Nong Rong, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Walid Iqbal,Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Human Rights of Pakistan,delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the Forum.Jiang Jiang,Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, moderated the opening ceremony.The attendees also included nearly 30 legislators from 17 countries across five continents,several deputies to the National People’s Congress of China, and deputies to the local People’s Congresses.

Delegation of San José Department of Uruguay Visiting Chongqing

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of sistership relations between Chongqing and San José Department in Uruguay, Mercedes Antía, Chairperson of the Development Committee of the Provincial Council of San José Department, Uruguay, led a provincial council and government delegation to Chongqing from September 17 to 21.The delegation participated in the 2023 China International Meat Industry Exhibition (CIMIE) and held discussions on promoting cooperation in various fields between the two parties with relevant organizations in Chongqing.

In May this year, Chongqing and Hong Kong formally established the cooperation conference mechanism, identifying practical cooperation on 47 items in 11 fields, which was the first cooperation mechanism established between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and a province/municipality in the mainland after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, marking a new historical starting point for Chongqing-Hong Kong cooperation.Last year, Chongqing and Macao established a “l(fā)ist-based” cooperation mechanism to deepen exchanges and cooperation in six areas.
