The Project of Mineral Resources Data Reorganization and Atlas Compilation of Strategic Emerging Industries in China Kicking off
In mid-April, the kick-off meeting and Demonstration Forum of “the project of mineral resources data reorganization and atlas compilation of strategic emerging industries in China” was convened, which is a Science and Technology Basic Resource Survey Project proposed and organized by Institute of Mineral Resources, China Geological Survey (Resource Institute in short below). “The project of mineral resources data reorganization and atlas compilation of strategic emerging industries in China” is co-conducted by Resource Institute, Development Research Center of China Geological Survey, Hebei GEO University, GRIRET and Institute of Geomechanics, China Geological Survey. The project focuses on 16 mineral species such as nickel and cobalt that are indispensable and have poor substitutability among all strategic emerging industry minerals. Based on fully utilizing current resources, to practically assist a new round of strategic action for mining breakthrough and safeguard national mineral resource security by compiling basic map of mineral resources that is visible, easy to read, and practical through fully and systematically collecting and summarizing data, and sharing the map with the society via technical platform.
After listening to the report on the project and topic, and after inquiring and question answering, experts on the meeting fully recognized the scientific significance of the project and social effects that will be generated. In the meantime, experts provided detailed guidance and suggestions for the possible difficulties that might occur during the implementation of the project. The project group expressed the determination to earnestly follow the opinions and suggestions from the experts and optimize implementation schemes of the project and topic, and strive to make bigger achievements based on completing established goals.
