Conversation 1

Mother:Have you done your homework,Susanna?

蘇珊娜，你做作業(yè)了嗎？

Susanna: Not yet,mom.

還沒有，媽媽。

Mother:You know you haven’t finished your homework.Then why are you watching TV,Susanna?

你知道你還沒有完成作業(yè)。那你為什么還在看電視，蘇珊 娜？

Susanna:This is my favorite show,you know.

你知道的，這是我最喜歡的節(jié)目。

Mother: Go do your homework.

去做你的作業(yè)。

Susanna:But,mom!

但是，媽媽！

Mother:You can watch TV after you finish your homework.

做完作業(yè)后，你才可以看電視。

Susanna:But the show will be over soon.

但是節(jié)目很快就要結(jié)束了。

Mother:There will be another show next week.

下周又會有另外的節(jié)目。

Susanna:Please?

拜托？

Mother:You know the rules,Susanna.

你知道規(guī)矩的，蘇珊娜。

Susanna:I hate the rules! Mom,I can’t wait till I grow up.

Conversation 2

Father:The day after tomorrow you’re going toattend school,Robert.What do you need for school?

羅伯特，后天你就要入學(xué)了。你上學(xué)還需要些什么呢？

Robert:I need pencils.

我需要鉛筆。

Father:Anything else?

還有別的嗎？

Robert:I need a pencil sharpener,an eraser,a ruler,and a notebook.

我需要一個(gè)卷筆刀、一塊橡皮、一把尺子和一本筆記本。

Father:Do you need a pen?

你需要一支鋼筆嗎？

Robert:No.I already have a pen.Uncle Sam bought me one theday before yesterday.

不。我已經(jīng)有一支鋼筆了。山姆大叔前天給我買了一支。

Father:Do you need a calculator?

你需要計(jì)算器嗎？

Robert:No.Mom told me the teacher doesn’t permit calculators.

不。媽媽告訴我，老師不允許使用計(jì)算器。

Father:How about a dictionary?

詞典呢？

Robert:No,we have a big dictionary in the classroom.

不，我們教室里有一本大詞典。

Father:Your mom told you that?

你媽媽告訴你的？

Robert:Yes,she told me that yesterday.

是的，她昨天告訴我了。

Father:Well,I guess that’s it.

好吧，我想就是這樣了。

Robert: Yes,that’s all I need for now.

是的，我現(xiàn)在只需要這些。

Father:Okay.

注:

1.“Not yet,mom.”是一個(gè)省略句，其完整的句子表達(dá)是“I have not finished my homework yet,mom.”。

2.關(guān)于“go”的用法，平時(shí)同學(xué)們常用的表達(dá)是：“go to + 地名”（go to the cinema、go to the hospital、go to the zoo 等），“go to + 動詞（短語）”（go to work、go to play the table tennis、go to see a film 等），“go to + 動名詞（短語）”（go fishing、go swimming、go hiking 等）。然而，這里的“Go do your homework.”這句話卻不存在語法錯(cuò)誤。因?yàn)樵谟⒄Z中，當(dāng)“go”后面這個(gè)動作發(fā)生的時(shí)間與“go”這個(gè)動作發(fā)生的時(shí)間差小得可以忽略不計(jì)時(shí)，就可以用“go + 動詞原形”來表達(dá)，如：“Go set the table.”“Go pick up the pencil for me.”“Dinner is ready.Go wash your hands,Tom.”。

3.英語中的“go to school”與“attend school”翻譯成中文時(shí)都可以是“上學(xué)”，但是兩者的意思其實(shí)是不一樣的?！癵o to school”表達(dá)的是“上學(xué)”或“到學(xué)校上課”這一行為，而“attend school”表達(dá)的是“入學(xué)”，即原來未上學(xué)的人即將要入學(xué)。如：“In China,children must attend school at 6.”“Mr.Wang’s son and daughter attend the same primary school.”。

4.“Uncle Sam bought me one the day before yesterday.”這句話中的“one”指代的就是“a pen”。句中的“bought me one”就是“bought one for me”的意思，因?yàn)樵谟⒄Z中“buy sb.something”就等于“buy something for sb.”。

5.“Yes,that’s all I need for now.”這句話中的“all”后面省略了“that”。英語中，“all that”就等于“what”。因此，這句話還可以說成“Yes,that’s all that I need for now.”或“Yes,that’s what I need for now.”。
