The Release of Various National Programs and Recommendation of Good Books

On February 21， the Bureau of Publishing at the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee launched a book recommendation campaign entitled “Striving for a New Journey and Building a New Era” and announced a list of 15 books for the period of January to February. These books include On Adhering to the Harmonious Coexistence of Human Beings and Nature， The “Four Illustrations” of the New Era： Grasp the New Thoughts， The Outline of the Double Cycle， Notes on Xihaigu， and From Chamonix to Beijing： 100 Years of the Winter Olympics.

According to the introduction， the activity of recommending good books will continue throughout the year， recommending key thematic books to the community on a monthly basis， including classic readings， theoretical masterpieces， full-length novels， reportage literature， children’s literature， illustrated books， comic books， and music collections. These readings will be displayed and sold through online and offline bookstores to inspire people to embark on a new journey and build a new era with vigor， thus creating a strong atmosphere for the successful convening of the 20th National Party Congress.

With the goal of promoting the high-quality development of the digital reading industry and meeting the growing learning and reading needs of the people， this recommendation activity recommends a number of annual digital reading works and digital reading projects with the right orientation， high-quality content， far-reaching influence， and wide dissemination. The final recommendations of digital reading cities will be determined based on the index of data in digital reading on major domestic digital reading platforms.

The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences has recently announced the list of projects for the Chinese Academic Translation Program of the National Social Science Fund of China for the year 2021. 237 projects have been selected， including 16 key projects， 219 general projects， and 2 journal projects.

The 16 key projects include Research on Ancient Chinese Township System， Landscape in the Fog， Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy， Studies on Narratology and Novel Stylistics （Fourth Edition） published by Peking University Press; Poverty Alleviation in China， Chinese Han Buddhist Rituals （Updated Edition）， Art of the Paleolithic by Commercial Press; Knowing the World and Knowing Yourself---Collection of Feng Qi （Updated Edition）， The Modern History of Africa by East China Normal University Press; Global Economy and World Order in the Post-Epidemic Era， Struggle and Dream by China Social Sciences Press; Dimensions of the Civil Service Selection System in the Song Dynasty by Zhonghua Book Company; Dunhuang Studies by Zhejiang University Press; The History of Chinese Culture Generation by Wuhan University Press; The Theoretical History of Chinese Fiction by Tianjin Education Publishing House; and The History of Chinese Buddhist Art by Nanjing University Press.
