This book tells the story of children tasting and exchanging their views on various Shanxi wheaten dishes during their meals, illustrating the entire process of cultivating, harvesting, processing, and making various crops. The story not only illustrates the richness and diversity of Shanxi wheaten foods but also reflects the significance of the heritage of farming culture, thus ultimately engraving in children a deep sense of respect for the land and for food.

This book introduces five iconic ancient buildings of China, each representing an exciting and intriguing period of history behind them. The five iconic buildings chosen for this book are the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, the Mogao Grottoes, the Terracotta Army, and the Fujian Tulou. They are not only remarkable landmarks of Chinese civilization and a part of world cultural heritage but also represent five types of architecture that mainly use five different distinctive building materials: an altar and temple built with wood (Temple of Heaven), a defensive fortification built with stone masonry (Great Wall), a religious architecture carved out of a cliff face (Mogao Grottoes), an underground mausoleum built with clay (Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum), and residential dwellings made of rammed earth (Fujian Tulou).
