【編者按】? ?《千丈之松》為本刊主辦單位商務(wù)印書館的館歌。商務(wù)印書館創(chuàng)辦于1897年2月11日，是我國現(xiàn)代歷史最悠久、影響最大的出版機(jī)構(gòu)。在124年的歲月中，與商務(wù)有文字緣的學(xué)人，不下萬人，其中知名人士，足以千計。歷史上，商務(wù)幾次瀕于危殆，1932年幾乎全部毀于日本侵略者的炮火，但終因社會的支持和同仁的奮斗轉(zhuǎn)危為安。一個文化出版機(jī)構(gòu)不僅度過風(fēng)風(fēng)雨雨的一個多世紀(jì)，今天仍生氣勃勃地為祖國的文化建設(shè)貢獻(xiàn)著自己的力量。應(yīng)該說，商務(wù)印書館誕生和發(fā)展的全過程，是同我們民族的命運(yùn)息息相關(guān)的。

商務(wù)印書館館歌的歌詞集自其前輩員工張元濟(jì)、茅盾、葉圣陶三人的詩詞。歌詞是歷史體驗的凝聚，唱出了心之曲、館之魂，自然，平和，又充滿希望。今日中華民族偉大復(fù)興“望如朝曙”，過去百余年中數(shù)不盡的仁人志士和機(jī)構(gòu)為這一理想奮進(jìn)不止;商務(wù)館歌唱出的正是那種前赴后繼、百折不撓為理想而奮斗的精神。本刊認(rèn)為，商務(wù)館歌雄渾厚重，意愿崇高，催人奮進(jìn)，在新時代具有特別的意義。鑒此，本刊特邀請詩人譯者許景城先生將其譯成英文，雙語對照刊發(fā)，以與讀者共賞。

昌明教育平生愿，

故向書林努力來;

此是良田好耕植，

有秋收獲仗群才。

世事白云蒼狗，

風(fēng)濤蕩激，

順潮流左右應(yīng)付，

穩(wěn)度過，灘險浪急。

論傳天演，木鐸啟路。

日新無已，望如朝曙。

敢云有志竟成，

總算樓臺平地。

從今以后更艱難，

努力還需再試。
