西村大院的設(shè)計(jì)一反中心體量集合的城市綜合體常見(jiàn)模式，采用外環(huán)內(nèi)空的布局，環(huán)繞街區(qū)沿邊修建，圍合出一個(gè)公園般的超大院落，成為一個(gè)外高內(nèi)低、容納紛繁雜陳的公共生活的“綠色盆地”，呼應(yīng)了四川盆地的原風(fēng)景。大、中、小竹林院落層層相套，面向公眾開(kāi)放，自由穿行，再現(xiàn)傳統(tǒng)生活環(huán)境，激發(fā)集體記憶，延續(xù)了成都人民熱愛(ài)的竹下休閑傳統(tǒng)生活方式。功能設(shè)施式的骨架設(shè)計(jì)，任由富于個(gè)性的世俗生活自由填充，又被大院的巨大尺度所歸納，最終形成“市井立面”，傳達(dá)出群體創(chuàng)造的豐富表現(xiàn)力。一條架空休閑跑道巡遊大院并攀升至屋頂又環(huán)繞一周，為跑步和騎車(chē)的人們帶來(lái)了自由興奮的超常體驗(yàn)，并賦予建筑具有動(dòng)態(tài)能量的鮮活形象。西村大院的建設(shè)使日常休閑方式獲得了具有紀(jì)念性尺度的集合表現(xiàn)，成為周邊社區(qū)民眾休閑生活的樂(lè)園，也為自身帶來(lái)了豐沛的活力和巨大的成長(zhǎng)空間。

West Village is a maxi-courtyard that adopts an atypical design when compared to other commercial complexes in that its centrifugal layout encircles the entire block to maximise the inner area of sports and green like a park, echoing the form of a basin and encompassing a diverse public life. Smaller bamboo courtyards exist within bigger ones. They are open to the public and visitors are welcome to walk through freely. The spatial design carries on the ever-popular traditional leisure lifestyle under the shade of bamboo among locals in order to refresh their former collective memories. Its functional structure allows a miscellaneous form of expression to utilise the customisable spaces at will, while the large scale of the courtyard harbours and displays a vernacular fa?ade that encourages creativity of the vast public. An elevated runway along the silhouette of the courtyard all the way up to the rooftop and then back to the ground. This constant change of altitude activates a dynamic flow of energy within this architectural project and brings joggers and cyclists an unusual experience.
