Abstract：The14th Five-Year Plan period is a critical period for China to move forward from building a moderately prosperous society in all respects to fully building itself into a modern socialist country，as well as the starting stage of Shanghai in marching towards the"Five Centres"and the socialist modern international metropolis with world influence.In the face of the world changes unseen in a century and China's unprecedented new era of approaching the centre of the world stage，by referring to the development of local chronicles during the 13th Five-Year Plan period，the development of Shanghai local chronicles in the14th Five-Year Plan period should centre on the strategic goal of"Five Centres"construction，focus on the compilation of historical records，take the innovation of system and mechanism as the guarantee，and further consolidate the achievements of information construction.It should also make in-depth integration and utilization of emerging information technology，comprehensively open up a new journey of high-quality development of local chronicles，and providea"chronicles database”of history records，a"knowledge base”of education and"think tank"of governing for Shanghai to realize the leap from a"gateway"city to an innovative"comprehensive"metropolis.

Abstract：In 2020，Office of Shanghai Chronicles conducted a survey to32，913 people on the social usage of local chronicles in the form of We Chat.The participants are mainly young and middle-aged people who generally engage in enterprises and public institutions，usually with a bachelor's degree.The findings of the survey include：the usage of chronicles is regular in rate，differentiated in types，modernized，utilitarian，hour-based in duration and monthly-based in frequency，and Internet-oriented in ways of improvement；rarely used for being uninformed，but know the local chronicle institutions and people around are using，and hope to provide contact opportunities to promote the use.The results of the survey have some enlightening and referential value for the local chronicles compilation work：adhere to the compilation of local records for use，improve the practicality of local records；adhere to the popularization of the content and strengthen the information of local records；adhere to the convenience of retrieving and improving the accessibility of local records；adhere to the principle of paying equal attention to the official history and local records，and coordinate the balance of local chronicles；adhere to the priority of efficiency to allow quick and easy use of local chronicles；adhere to the principle of facing the public and expand the accessibility of the local chronicles.

Abstract：By analysing the theoretical tracks and internal logic of the subject attribute of Local Chronicles Study of the concerned academic circle，clarifying their views on the theoretical basis of local chronicles，this paper argues that traditional Local Chronicles Study belongs to history discipline，and modern Local Chronicles Study can be attributed to comprehensive discipline due to its comprehensiveness，but it cannot be separated from modern history，which is more comprehensive and has become a comprehensive discipline.In terms of discipline，the theoretical basis of Local Chronicles Study is mainly historiography，which lays the foundation for the formation and development of Local Chronicles Study and plays a supporting or guiding role in the construction of its theoretical system.The theoretical basis of modern Local Chronicles Study has certain contents of other disciplines as it absorbs the theoretical elements of other disciplines.The theoretical research results of local chronicles throughout the history partly contribute to the sources of the theoretical basis of Local Chronicles Study.

Abstract：The writing about charity in local chronicles set a tune to the structure of local chronicles in the whole historical process since the Song and Yuan dynasties.Interpreting these long-term and large-scale panoramic records，we can see the mutual benefits and interactions between charity and compilation of local records，and the identity conformity of the philanthropists and compliers.Memories are physically kept in text，from which we can see the faint traces of local elites'wrestling for the right of discourse，contending for historical memories and constructing local culture.This does not divorce from the"Same Structure of the Clan and Country"，but remains in the same framework.

Abstract：The dialect category should be listed in each round of compilations of local chronicles continuation and should not be kept out on the grounds that no great changes have taken place in dialect or in order to promote Putonghua（mandarin）.Local chronicles should keep a timely record of the times change of dialects and preserve the dialect materials of different periods.In the new era，the compilation of dialect category in chronicles is still like crossing the river by feeling the stones，mainly because it requires higher expertise compared with other categories.This paper discusses four major issues in the compiling practice，such as whether to set up the dialect category，how to treat the expertise and popularity of dialect category.

Abstract：Huangxi Records is a fragmentary local chronicle compiled by Sun Xing’an and others in the Republic of China，no early than 1935.A 1979 transcript is now housed in the Jinshan District Library，Shanghai，and is suspected to bethe only extant copy since its master copy was lost.It offers a detailed introduction of the historical sites and arts and literature in Huangxi，known today as Lvxiang，in two volumes，and each in six chapters.According to textual research，it did not adopt the Huangxi Records of the Ming Dynasty，rather wasa different local chronicle book largely referred to Jinshan County Annals of the Guangxu Period by combining other various historical materials.Viewing from the copy in the Jinshan District Library，the book is far from complete as it had no entry of the administrative map，and the wording is mixed with simple and complicated Chinese characters due to the age differences.Nonetheless，the defects cannot obscure its virtues.Its unique historical value is highlighted by its identification of errors and corrections，its generous efforts in collecting and collating historical data，and its unconventional geographic information tracking.The book is a rare historical document for the study of Shanghai local chronicles and the development history of Jinshan District.

Abstract：Ninghua County Annals is the most important and highest-level historiography work of Li Shixiong，the leading figure of the literary world of Tingzhou Prefecture，F(xiàn)ujian Province in the late Ming Dynasty.Known as a famous chronicle，it occupies an important position in the history of local records of China.In the process of compiling Ninghua County Annals，Li Shixiong infused the thought of historiography and statecraft，which was fully reflected in the preface to the book.The discussion of Li Shixiong's thought of historiography and statecraft is of certain significance to the study of Ninghua County Annals.

Abstract：The earliest extant biography of Wu Peng’ao，the author of Complete Records of Wudu/Jiezhou is seen in Jiezhou Chronicles Continuation of Guangxu Period，which contains the problems of the scholarly honours and experience in officialdom of the biographical master.The later appearance of new biography of Wu Peng’ao did not address the relevant issues；instead，it added new ambiguity.Due to the limitation of biography genre，the author did not provide relevant supporting materials.Therefore，there is still a lot of room for discussions about Wu Peng’ao's life stories.Based on the life stories of Wu Peng’ao in the historical records of List of Selected Candidates of Imperial Examinations from All Provinces in the 54th year of Qianlong Period（1789），F(xiàn)ufeng County Annals of Jiaqing Period，Xunyang County Annals of Guangxu Period，this paper discusses the aforementioned problems in order to revise and perfect Wu Peng’ao's biography.

Abstract：The prevention and control of the COVID-19 is a major event in 2020.It is the obligation of local comprehensive almanacs to record the containing of the pandemic.Establish the guiding ideology in compilation by making summary and analysis of the combat against the COVID-19 for the reference of later generations；record the major decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee in the epidemic prevention and control as well as the specific practice in the local areas，the moving deeds of the front line indomitable struggle against the pandemic of the party's organizations at all levels as well as the Party members and cadres of all walks of society，and the experience and lessons of the epidemic control.Based on the local conditions，the local comprehensive almanacs should manifest the latest achievements of the Chinese people in fighting against the epidemic and preserve the valuable experience for future generations by employing different and combined recording approaches，such as single item plus memorabilia，featured stories or special records plus memorabilia，categories or columns plus memorabilia，thematic pictures，etc.

Abstract：Songjiang Prefecture Annals of Chongzhen Period is featured by citing the original texts to explain its body text.However，the textual research shows that the citing from Complete Records of Wu and Yue is not from the original text，but a comprehensive comment on the history of that time by the local chronicle compilers，and a false one.In short，it is unlikely for Shanghai or Shanghai Town to emerge in the Five Dynasties.

Abstract：Private publishing was pretty active in the Song Dynasty，and the books were often with commendable printing quality.It is generally believed that private publication is to win fames.The private printing industry in Fujian in the Song Dynasty were represented by Liu Yuanqi，Wei Zhongju，Huang Shanfu，Cai Mengbi and other figures.The books they printed were usually crowned with the words"XX Family School"asa kind of logo to be distinguished from other books.The purposes of such practice were based on the needs of family teaching and learning on the one hand，and to pass it on to later generations on the other hand.

Abstract：The village sects and societies are superstitious and secret armed organizations established for self-defence and self-interests by the village local forces under the social unrest caused by the disintegration of the central power and the warlord dogfight.The village sects and societies thrived respectively in the warlord dogfight in the1920s and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression during the 1930s-40s two periods.In the first period，the Communist Party of China Boshan County Branch mainly convinced the Yellow Sand Sect to launch coal miners's trikes in the industrial and mining areas；in the second period，the Communist Party of China Boshan County Branch used a different tactic in the rural areas by planting agents of village school teachers into the armed sects and establishing"Nine Sects Joint Office"to guide and divide the village sects and societies and turn them into the active armed forces for fighting against the Japanese invaders.Before and after the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression，the Communist Party organizations in Boshan County，Shandong Province set a good example in mobilizing the masses and forming the United Front.In the process of carrying out the revolutionary struggle，they made generous efforts in winning over and uniting the village sects and societies according to their characteristics，namely，great in number，wide-spread in organizations and better armed in forces，and achieved remarkable results.
