First of all, allow me to express my heartfelt thanks to the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Government and the Nanjing Municipal Government for inviting us to attend this important commemorative event and for the warm and friendly reception of the Chinese people.

I have the honor to speak on behalf of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of Peoples and all peace-loving Cuban revolutionary fighters. In my homeland Cuba, our understanding of peace is not limited to "absence war", but it has a broader meaning, that is, to protect human life and realize the sustainable development of all countries and nations.

At present, the peace cause that Cuba supports and strives for includes the following:

First, we firmly support the efforts of all walks of life to achieve comprehensive disarmament in the world.

Second, we firmly support the Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, which was put forward at the second CELAC Summit in 2014.

Third, we reiterate our full support for the Governments of Venezuela and Nicaragua and oppose the encirclement and subversion of the two Governments by the United States.

Fourth, we support the struggle of the people of Western Sahara and their right to national self-determination and independence.

Fifth, we call on the United States to return its illegally occupied Cuban territory -- the Guantanamo military base – to Cuba.

Sixth, we demand that Britain return the Malvinas Islands to Argentina.

Seventh, we oppose the increasing military presence of the United States in Latin America.

Eighth, we support the cause of the Palestinian people.

I must admit that in the face of the current international situation, I can not get rid of pessimism. The United States is a major power in the world today, but it constantly sets obstacles to peace and often threatens to use force to achieve its hegemonic and imperialist political goals. Meantime, I have not lost confidence in the determination of the peoples of the world to achieve peace and the achievements they have made. I believe that we can create a better world. Therefore, we should bear in mind the following words:

Peace for yesterday!

Peace for today!

Peace for tomorrow!

Peace is always in our hearts!

We will never give it up!

We will never betray it!
