【教學目標】
1.能在自主閱讀語篇的基礎(chǔ)上整體理解課文和復述課文,掌握一定的閱讀技巧。
2.能準確掌握和運用本課的重點單詞、短語、句型和語法。
3.能運用自己的語言表達Spud Webb為實現(xiàn)夢想永不放棄的歷程。
4.從Spud Webb為實現(xiàn)夢想永不放棄的故事中激勵自己。
【教學重點】
1.了解Spud Webb的成長歷程。
2.掌握一些新詞匯和短語:unior high, try out for sth, lose heart, change ones mind, succeed in doing sth, ake notice of等。
【教學難點】
1.能靈活運用一些新句型:(1)While attending junior high, Spud tried out for the school team, but he was refused to play at first because he was too small.(2)When he finally got the chance, he scored 20 points in his first game.(3)Through hard work, Spud Webb proved that size and body type really does not matter— you can do almost anything if you never give up.
2.培養(yǎng)學生積極向上、永不言棄的頑強意志和優(yōu)良品質(zhì)。

【教學過程】
Step 1 Warming up and lead-in
1.出示有關(guān)NBA籃球運動員圖片,引導學生觀察圖片,并進行思考。
(1)How much do you know about playing basketball?
(2)Are you good at it?
(3)Whos your favourite basketball player?
(通過出示圖片引導學生聚焦有關(guān)NBA,引導學生從籃球運動中找到認知的切入點和生成點,增強他們的整體理解感知綜合運用能力。)
2.Show some picture of Yao Ming .
教師介紹:This is Yao Ming .How tall he is !He played in the NBA. Many People like him .What do you think to make a good basketball player?
(1) Does a basketball player need to practise a lot?
(2) Basketball players are usually very tall, arent they?
(3) If you were a reporter, what would you like to say with Yao Ming?
(從學生熟悉的籃球運動員——姚明中,引導學生就相關(guān)的問題進行思考,鼓勵他們從名人的成長經(jīng)歷中深化思考。)
Step 2 Presentation
1.教師導入:Today were going to learn about another NBA player . The NBA player is only 1.69M, he is called Spud
(土豆)。In 1986, “dunk contest”, from the “human film essence” Dominic Wilkins hands, won the “dunk king” title, become the legend of NBA。His name is Spud Webb .
2. Teacher says:What do you know about Spud Webb?
What do you think Spud Webb is like?

3.Read the article about Spud Webb on pages 50 and 51 quickly.
Step 3 Talk about the article
1. 請學生在自我整體閱讀課文的基礎(chǔ)上圈劃出自己遇到的新的詞匯、短語。
2. 請學生運用同桌交流的方式,就“How do you understand the phrase?” 進行相互問答,幫助他們形成一定的自我感知能力。
3. 師生問答:
(1) When and where was Spud Webb born?(In Texas in 1963)
(2)What was his big dream?(He wanted to play in the NBA)
Step 4 Activities
1.Ask the students finish the exercises B3 on page 53, then ask the two students to read the whole dialogue and check the answers.
2.Group discuss

(4)If you meet Spud Webb, what would you like to say him?

3.Action
請學生扮演教材中人物角色進行對話,鼓勵他們就自己的閱讀感知收獲進行現(xiàn)場采訪。
4.請學生就自己在閱讀中發(fā)現(xiàn)的新句型與其他同學交流,幫助他們能夠圍繞句型格式、運用方法等方面進行對話。
Step 5 Make a speech
請學生圍繞“What do I learn from Spud Webb?”主題,主動登臺演講,讓他們能夠根據(jù)自己的閱讀理解進行表達,展示自己的情感態(tài)度和審美價值觀。
Step 6 Homework
1.識記本篇課文的新單詞、短語和句型。
2.能準確流利朗讀和背誦本課文。
