1.Introduction
English, as a second language to us, is difficult to learn. The majority of second-language acquisition (often abbreviated to SLA) research has been devoted to language learning in a natural setting. Moreover, researches on homework indicate that it should be approached not as an afterthought to the school day, but as a focused strategy for increasing understanding.
2.The current problems of primary school English homework
Knowledge is changing everyday. If teachers still give the students simple, boring exercises without change, the homework may annoy the students; even become the burden for the students.
2.1 Single form
Homework is a form of drill and can be done in many ways. But in current, some primary school English teachers usually offer some mechanical forms of homework. It's impossible for the students to understand English deeply or experience the active meaning in the homework, not to mention to develop the students' comprehensive abilities in language use.
2.2 Strict evaluation
The homework often takes the "pencil and paper" form and it is done at the end of a learning period. The evaluation of the homework is often given in a strict way. It's impossible for the evaluation to reinforce students' English learning, but instead, it reinforces their negative feelings about homework.
3 Basic requirements of interesting design of primary school English homework
3.1 To arouse interest
Teaching goals stated in the new curriculum show that teachers should try their best to help students develop good learning habits and form effective learning strategies while stimulating and cultivating their interests and confidence in learning English.Teachers should pay attention to students' interests and habits and try to meet their individual needs to make the homework vivid and lively. The interesting and informative homework can arouse the students' interests and energy in learning English
3.2 To show individuality
Students interests and abilities vary from person to person. The new English curriculum not only aims to educate every student, but also stresses quality-oriented education.Teachers should design the homework that is interesting to stimulate students' interests in learning English and help them experience the pleasure of success and gain self-confidence in learning. Moreover, the curriculum advocates the pattern of autonomous learning and the concept of lifelong learning strongly.endprint
4.Application of homework design in primary school English classes
4.1 Drawing
The students enjoy drawing and have great imagination. The pictures can help provide something to talk about, and give some visual support for understanding, which can help the students build up their confidence and make them participate actively in the classroom; and by more participation and more practice can the students improve their speaking fluency.
4.2 Exploring
Teachers should make full use of various resources from both teaching content and social life and pay attention to combine the knowledge and real life.Try more different forms of homework, not just the“pencil and paper”form, to motivate students' exploring sense, facilitate their autonomy and cooperative spirit in learning, form sufficient competence in using English and enjoy the fun of “I can do it in English”.
4.3 Interviewing
People talk to communicate. We should make the best use of classroom learning environment to provide sufficient language input and practice for the students. It is important for the teachers to be fully aware of the students' intellectual emotional and physical abilities.Only if the demands are appropriate, TBLT can help students learn English in a challenging and stimulating way.
5.Conclusion
As teachers, the first thing to do is to have an open mind towards different kinds of students, different kinds of ideas about and approaches to assigning homework. The second thing teachers need to do is to optimize learning resources and maximize opportunities for students to learn and operate English.Besides the above tips, teachers should reflect on the students' completion of homework. Thus, teachers will find they are subconsciously focusing their attention to design homework on a day-to-day basis and find themselves changing in the process of designing and reflecting.
