辛迪·勞帕（Cyndi Lauper），1953年出生于美國紐約皇后區(qū)，成名前曾從事模特、管家、空手道教練和馬場服務(wù)生等職業(yè)，最終機(jī)緣巧合，成為一名歌手，活躍至今。1983年底，辛迪的首張個(gè)人專輯《Shes So Unusual》便以其極盡鮮艷、夸張、多變的妝扮造型領(lǐng)導(dǎo)風(fēng)潮，同時(shí)又以其演唱與創(chuàng)作才華，獲得樂界一致好評(píng)。這張專輯的銷量不僅達(dá)到了六百多萬張，還于1985年的第27屆格萊美音樂獎(jiǎng)上獲得五項(xiàng)提名，勇奪最佳新人頭銜，風(fēng)頭之健僅次于邁克爾·杰克遜。1986年，辛迪的第二張個(gè)人專輯《True Colors》得以發(fā)行，本期推薦歌曲便是此張專輯的同名主打單曲，一經(jīng)發(fā)行就斬獲了各路單曲榜冠軍。辛迪后期雖然發(fā)行了不少專輯，但因公司的宣傳及包裝不當(dāng)，導(dǎo)致銷量慘淡。
