reach動詞,作“到達;達到”解時可以是及物動詞,也可以是不及物動詞。

⑴ reach作“到達”解時是個非持續(xù)性動詞,用于完成式時,不可與表示一段時間的狀語連用。如:

⑵ reach作“傳開;深入”解時為不及物動詞,其后須用介詞與賓語連接。如:

attempt vt. & n. 意思是“企圖;試圖;嘗試”。attempt作及物動詞時,它的賓語不能是動名詞短語或that從句,只能是名詞或動詞不定式。如:

The paper must be finished in a given time. 必須在既定的時間內(nèi)完成答卷。

① quite, very, fairly等副詞不能修飾比較級,只有一個例外,表示身體康復(fù)時用quite better。
② how不能修飾比較級,如果用how引導(dǎo)的疑問句中有比較級時,可以用much來連接,構(gòu)成 “how much+比較級”結(jié)構(gòu)。

suggest 意思是“提議;建議;暗示”,主要用于以下結(jié)構(gòu):
⑴suggest+n./v.-ing+(to)(向……)提議
He suggested going there by train. 他建議搭火車去那兒。
⑵suggest+that從句。意思是“建議;提議”。從句謂語動詞常用(should)+動詞原形。
I suggested to him that he (should) join the club activities.
我建議他應(yīng)該參加該俱樂部的活動。
⑶suggest+n./that從句。意思是“暗示;委婉地說”。
His face suggested that he failed. 他的表情表明他失敗了。

⑴不定式作后置定語,與所修飾的名詞之間是邏輯動賓關(guān)系,因此不定式應(yīng)用及物動詞的主動形式,不及物動詞要搭配相應(yīng)介詞。如:
She refused to go to the ball because she had no jewellery to wear. 她沒有任何首飾可佩戴,因此拒絕參加舞會。
They had only a little room to live in. 他們住在一間小屋子里。
