享受紛繁英文世界中風(fēng)情萬種的“寧靜”

在英文中，一義多詞的現(xiàn)象比比皆是。就單說一個(gè)中文詞義，找到與其相配的英文單詞就有很多；它們雖然表面上從中文角度的理解，一些詞義是相同的，但這些詞如何用在恰當(dāng)場(chǎng)合，作為非母語的英文學(xué)習(xí)者來講就不好運(yùn)用自如了。要想很好地掌握它，不僅要博覽英語群書，感悟作者的用意之外，還需多多總結(jié)并找出差異，這也是學(xué)好英語的關(guān)鍵之一。接下來筆者將關(guān)于“寧靜”這個(gè)詞涉及到的相關(guān)英文詞匯以及一些句子列舉出來，以幫助大家提高在英文學(xué)習(xí)中的興趣。

Calm：一種平靜不帶有興奮緊張活動(dòng)或強(qiáng)烈感情的因素，還可以形容無風(fēng)時(shí)寧靜的天氣和平靜的海洋。形容人時(shí)，指人的鎮(zhèn)定自若，沉著，尤指在危難時(shí)所呈現(xiàn)出來的一種鎮(zhèn)定。

1．When she heard a ghostly voice come from the room,shewent up to it with a calm feeling.當(dāng)她聽到一個(gè)恐怖的聲音從房間里傳出來，鎮(zhèn)定地走了過去。

2．On a fine day, the sea is usually calm.好天氣時(shí)，大海總是風(fēng)平浪靜。

Tranquil:寧靜，一種令人愉快的寧靜和心神鎮(zhèn)定。多指遠(yuǎn)離喧囂的寧靜生活，一種世外桃源的生活。

1.Living in a busy big city,he longs for a tranquil life in the country.居住在忙碌的大城市，他渴望過一種寧靜的鄉(xiāng)村生活。

2．Before he became well-known, he lived in a tranquil mountain village.他成名之前，居住在一個(gè)不為人知的小山村里。

Serene:寧靜，一種絕對(duì)徹底的平靜。指人時(shí)，形容人的一種安詳；指物時(shí)，多形容一種平和，不受外界干擾。

1．Mother sat in the evening sunlight,serene and beautiful.媽媽坐在落日的余暉中，寧靜而安詳。

2．That fair face was neither clouded nor ravaged, but finely serene.那張白皙的臉，既無愁容也不憔悴，而是非常的安詳。

On a serene and moonlit night,countless stars were twinkling.晴朗而月明的夜里，無數(shù)的星星在閃爍。

Placid:平靜的，寧靜的。指人或動(dòng)物不易發(fā)怒或激動(dòng)的狀態(tài)。多指性情的溫和。有時(shí)貶義時(shí)，暗示遲鈍和愚笨。指物時(shí)calm和peaceful 為同義詞，含平靜、寧靜的意思。

1.She had a placid nature,well-suited to teaching.她性情很溫和，很適合教書。

2.These panda are so placid that we all like to approach them.這些熊貓溫順得讓我們都想接近他們。

3.She is as placid as a cow.她溫和得像一頭母牛。

4.The lake was placid and still under the moonlight.月光下的湖是那么的寧靜。

Peaceful:沒有戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，沒有紛亂的那種寧靜和祥和，特指一種平靜；有時(shí)也指沒有焦慮和激動(dòng)的平靜。

1.People in the Middleeast desire to live a peaceful life.中東地區(qū)的人民希望過安靜的生活。

2.He worked in a peaceful mountain before moving to a little town.搬到小鎮(zhèn)之前，他在寂靜的山上工作。

Quiet:安靜的、平靜的、溫和的、沒有一點(diǎn)聲響的那種寂靜；或安靜的地方?jīng)]有許多人。

1.Well have to be quiet so as not to wake the baby.為了不驚醒孩子，我們都得躡手躡腳。

2.The thief jumped over the wall and walked as quiet as a mouse.那個(gè)賊跳過墻去并且走路時(shí)輕得像只老鼠。

3．Id love to go on holiday somewhere where its nice and quiet.我愿意去那些人少的地方度假。

Silent:寂靜，沒有聲響，與quiet同義。

1.In the early morning,the village was completely silent.鄉(xiāng)村的早晨非常的寂靜。

2.About handsome this word,the letter “d” is silent.英文handsome 這個(gè)詞中，“d”不發(fā)音。

Still:用來修飾不動(dòng)或靜止的那種沉默或無聲，可譯成平靜、寧靜。

The crowd remained still,quietly and quaking with fear.人群安靜不動(dòng)，驚愕地失了神，顫抖著顯出幾分畏懼。

Dont judge someone by his appearance, havent you heard “still waters run deep”?不要以貌取人，難道你沒聽說過“靜水流深”這個(gè)詞嗎？
