2024 Chongqing Spring Festival Gala with Foreign Consulates General Held

On February 1， the 2024 Chongqing Spring Festival Gala with Foreign Consulates General kicked off in Chongqing， jointly hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government （Chongqing FAO） and the Chongqing Yuzhong District Government. With the theme of “Joining Hands with Chongqing for Win-Win Cooperation，” the gala invited consular officers and staff from the Consulates-General in Chongqing and Chengdu of 20 countries， such as Cambodia， the Philippines， Belarus， Japan， Austria， and Singapore， and representatives of foreign institutions， Hong Kong and Macao agencies， and foreign-related companies in Chongqing. The guests joyfully gathered together and exchanged with leaders of the Chongqing Municipal Peoples Government， relevant departments and organizations. At the gala， they embraced the local customs and culture by watching shows and performances， while celebrating the Chinese New Year. Zhang Guozhi， Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government， Huang Maojun， Secretary of the CPC Yuzhong District Committee， and Yos Sokhemrak， Consul-General of Cambodia in Chongqing addressed the audience. The gala was moderated by Wang Wen， Director-General of Chongqing FAO.

On behalf of the Chongqing Municipal Government， Zhang Guozhi warmly welcomed all the guests and wished them a happy Chinese New Year. She said that 2023 was the first year for Chongqing to fully implement the guiding principles from the 20th CPC National Congress and start the modernization drive of the New Chongqing. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and the Chongqing Municipal Government， 32 million Chongqing people forged ahead together and made impressive progress in building the New Chongqing. These achievements would have been impossible without the strong support and enthusiastic engagement of the Consulates-General and Chongqing-based overseas organizations. In 2024， Chongqing will actively contribute to the new development paradigm， thus advancing high-quality development and further expanding high-standard opening-up. Zhang Guozhi expected closer connections and cooperation with Consulates-General and Chongqing-based organizations， and deeper friendly exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and other countries.

On behalf of the consular corps， Yos Sokhemrak extended his gratitude to the Chongqing Municipal Government， Chongqing FAO， and relevant institutions for their strong support and close collaboration. He stated that the Consulate-General became more confident about the promising future of Chongqing after learning about the latest development of the city at the second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal Peoples Congress and the second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC. In the past year， consulates of different countries were committed to forging deeper friendly cooperation with Chongqing through unprecedented efforts. Recently， consulates are drafting detailed work plans for 2024 to yield fruitful and tangible results through cooperation. The Cambodia-China relations have entered a new chapter. The Royal Embassy of Cambodia in China and the consulates of Cambodia in China will engage in facilitating friendly exchanges and cooperation between Cambodia and China. All these endeavors will bring fruitful results to both sides， contributing to regional stability and prosperity.

The gala was characterized by an array of traditional activities， such as wristband weaving， calligraphy couplets， and traditional sachets， all of which contributed to a festive ambience of the Chinese New Year. Guests engaged in these activities and took photos. The event began with a video showcasing the memorable moments of interactions between Chongqing and consulates in 2023. Then， there were captivating performances， including childrens intangible cultural heritage shows and folk music. Well-prepared songs， dances， and Tai Chi performances by the Consulates-General in Chongqing of different countries， such as Japan， Myanmar， Italy， and Hungary， received huge applause. Sitting around the tables， Chinese and international guests shared their jubilation， celebrated the Chinese New Year， and looked forward to a brighter future in 2024.

張國智代表重慶市政府向嘉賓們表示熱烈歡迎并送上新春祝福。她說，剛剛過去的2023年是重慶市全面貫徹黨的二十大精神的開局之年，也是全面建設(shè)現(xiàn)代化新重慶的起步之年。在市委、市政府的堅(jiān)強(qiáng)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下，3400萬重慶人民勠力同心、砥礪前行，繪就了波瀾壯闊的新重慶畫卷。成績的取得離不開各國領(lǐng)館和境外在渝機(jī)構(gòu)的大力支持和熱情參與。新的一年，重慶將積極服務(wù)和融入新發(fā)展格局，著力推動(dòng)高質(zhì)量發(fā)展，持續(xù)擴(kuò)大高水平對(duì)外開放。期待與各國領(lǐng)館及境外在渝機(jī)構(gòu)加強(qiáng)聯(lián)系與合作，推動(dòng)重慶與各國友好交流合作不斷邁上新臺(tái)階。

活動(dòng)現(xiàn)場，手繩編織、春聯(lián)書寫、香囊送吉等活動(dòng)營造出濃濃的新春氛圍，嘉賓們紛紛體驗(yàn)、拍照合影。大家通過視頻一起回顧了2023年重慶市與外國領(lǐng)館交往合作的精彩瞬間，幼童舞動(dòng)非遺秀、民樂演奏等文藝節(jié)目精彩上演，日本、緬甸、意大利、匈牙利等國駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館還帶來了精心準(zhǔn)備的歌曲、舞蹈和太極表演，贏得陣陣掌聲。中外嘉賓圍桌而坐，分享喜悅、同賀新春，共同展望新年的美好愿景。
