“被掏空的公寓”是一個(gè)通過(guò)了LEED綠色建筑白金級(jí)認(rèn)證的經(jīng)濟(jì)適用住房建筑項(xiàng)目，共擁有52個(gè)住宅單元，主要是為殘疾退伍軍人提供家庭住宅、后勤和康復(fù)服務(wù)。它位于洛杉磯的麥克阿瑟公園區(qū)。麥克阿瑟公園是美國(guó)人口密度最高的地區(qū)之一，每平方英里有3.8萬(wàn)多人口，2.72平方英里的總?cè)丝谶_(dá)12萬(wàn)人。

該公寓為殘疾退伍軍人提供一個(gè)非常舒適的住所，它打破了傳統(tǒng)住宅的規(guī)范性模式，通過(guò)創(chuàng)建出的公共和私密空間，但不側(cè)重強(qiáng)調(diào)私人空間，有利于個(gè)人和公共社會(huì)之間的和諧關(guān)系。這樣的空間布局旨在改變?nèi)藗冞h(yuǎn)離隱居、隔離式的生活方式，讓人們的生活變得更具社區(qū)性，有更多的互動(dòng)空間。

The SIX is a 52-unit LEED Platinum affordable housing project that provides a home,support services and rehabilitation for disabled veterans.It is located in the MacArthur Park area of Los Angeles.McArthur Park has one of the highest densities in the USA with over 38,000 people per square mile and a total population of 120,000 people in 2.72 square miles.

Offering shelter and comfort for disabled veterans,the SIX breaks the prescriptive mold of the traditional shelter by creating public and private "zones" in which private space is deemphasized,in favor of personal and group social spaces.The organization of the space is intended to transform the way people live-away from a reclusive,isolating layout towards a community-oriented,interactive space.
