Qingpu has gone through establishment，abolition，and dissection ever since it was established as a county in the 21st year of Jiajing Period of Ming Dynasty（1542），but the compilation of county annals has never been interrupted.Five versions of Qingpu County Annals compiled in Wanli，Kangxi，Qianlong，Guangxu periods and the period of Republic of China are handed down to date.Among them，the chief compiler of Qingpu County Annals of Qianlong Period was Wang Chang，a famous scholar and leader of the Qianlong-Jiaqing School of the Qing Dynasty.In the process of compiling Qingpu County Annals，Wang not only adopted“a chronicler must be a researcher”from an ideological height to promote the theoretical innovation of local annals；but also paid attention to the innovation from the division of labor in terms of organizational system and structure of compilation in practice.As a superintendent of local chronicles，Wang Chang constructed the connotation and value of Qingpu local chronicles culture from the dimensions of theory and practice，and boosted the development of Qingpu local chronicles culture.

In 2021，Shanghai Chronicles Office conducted a survey on the social participation of local chronicles among 32，855 people through WeChat.The survey results show that most people participate in local chronicles work because of their work.The way of participation mainly include supplying materials for the work of local chronicles and yearbooks，writing articles for local history and local geography，donating materials or exhibits for local chronicles museums，participating in theoretical discussion activities for the theoretical research of local chronicles，developing system for information work，joining in＂seven-entry＂activities for publicity work，and coordinating and promoting other local chronicles work with higher frequency.Those who do not participate in the work of local chronicles mainly because they feel they are not competent enough，though they know someone around them do engage in the work of local chronicles and express strong interests to be part of them.They are eager to join in the writing of local history and geography work and suggest that more opportunities to participate in the work of local chronicles be provided to the public.The following can be concluded from the survey：measures should be taken to further expand the social participation of local chronicles，such as providing work related to local chronicles，refining local chronicle work links，enhancing the construction of local chronicle work platforms，strengthen local chronicle work publicity，and using online new media.

The distinction between history and records has been a hot topic in the local chronicles circle，yet one disagrees with another and no consensus has been reached so far.This issue is not only a major issue of the disciplinary relationship between Local Chronicles Study and history，but also a very important issue related to the basic theory and compilation practice of local chronicles.The first thing to study the difference of history and records is to define their concepts，analyze their specific objects or carriers，namely the history books and books of records，and clarify historiography and the compilation of local chronicles.To crack the problem of obscure distinction between history and records，it is helpful to start from the perspective that they are two different systems and structures serving different purposes.The distinction between horizontal and vertical writing and line and segmented writing is not the absolute feature of the two.This paper takes the comparison between History of Ming，and Historical Geography of Great Ming and Brief History of Sanwan，which as a village history rather than the village annals，to illustrate the reflections on the distinction between history and records.

The academic research on Local Chronicles Study has achieved remarkable results in 2020 in terms of eight aspects：the basic theory study of local chronicles，the compilation of local chronicles，the cause management research of local chronicles，the history of local chronicles and the history of Local Chronicles Study，the research and evaluation of local chronicles，the collation and utilization of local chronicles，the study of local chronicles figures，and the study of local yearbooks.By sorting out these achievements，it is found that there are still many problems in the current research：first，rigid research model and lack of depth；second，prominent tendency for regional research；third，unbalanced attention to the new and old local chronicles；fourth，putting compilation above utilization in research.Therefore，in order to promote the construction of local chronicles and the development of the undertaking，it is necessary to strengthen the training of talent，constantly learn from the mature theoretical systems of other disciplines，do a good job in the planning of the third round of compilation of local chronicles，and build a local chronicles discipline system，local chronicles academic system and local chronicles discourse system with the characteristics of the times.

Jiang Xiangnan，who lived in the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of Qing Dynasty，was the first chronicler in the history of Hui people and an important chronicler in the history of local chronicles in China.Jiang devoted most part of his lifetime to compiling local chronicles.According to Jiang，local chronicles have two attributes：geography and history.The former requires local chronicles to attach importance to maps，while the latter requires historiography and historical cases.Based on the cognition of the two attributes，the local chronicles concept containing＂illustrated records＂and＂historiography＂proposed by Jiang Xiangnan injected new ideological power into the local chronicle compilation of the Qing Dynasty，and it was also a great development of Chinese Local Chronicles Study after Zhang Xuecheng.Guided by this concept，the local chronicles compiled by him also become a model in the records of the Qing Dynasty.

Special records are to record the special content of a certain project or a certain aspect or a certain unit.They are different from the categories of professional chronicles and are independent records.Starting from the fifth working conference on national local chronicles and the release of the National Local Chronicles Development Planning Outline（2015—2020），the compilation of local chronicles has extended from the original three-level chronicles to include special records，community records，township and village records and professional yearbooks.The compilation of special records is in the ascendant，with special focus on the records of sectors，records of industries and geography（the newly compiled records of geography are the records of tourist attractions and belong to separate records of sectors）.The compilation of these three types of special records shares similarities，but each has its own characteristics.It is suggested not to apply the system and structure indiscriminately among each other in the practice of compilation to avoid the sameness of all records.

The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 has had a profound and far-reaching impact on the politics，economy，culture，and society of China and across the world.We have ushered in a post-pandemic era when we will coexist with the virus and fight against it in the long run.In this context，the author believes that the work of local chronicles should draw close to the social reality，compile＂records of disasters and infectious diseases＂and leave referable historical materials for the society with frequent occurrences of disasters and epidemics；it should bring services to the central work，strengthen the construction of local chronicles museums，create local cultural landmarks and enhance the connotation of local cultural tourism during at its downturn period；it also should keep up with the pace of the times，realize the digital upgrade of local chronicles，and expand the audience of local chronicles culture，so as to better perform the functions of local chronicles to support governance，to offer references and to serve the overall social situation.

The Continuation of Siming Annals（Siming，today's Ningbo）of Zhizheng Period of Yuan Dynasty is the continuation of Siming Annals of Yanyou Period of Yuan Dynasty，superintended by Wang Yuangong and compiled by Wang Housun and others.It is a supplement to the previous version，with new categories added，elaborate textual research done and characteristics enriched.However，it was largely neglected and piled with errors in the process of circulation.By the Xianfeng Period of Qing Dynasty，Xu Shidong made some revisions of it.

In the 1920s and the 1930s，Guangdong Baptists in Shanghai organized Ri Guang Hui to carry out religious education activities to the children of the primary school affiliated to Chongde Girls'School it established under the guidance of its religious outlook on children.In terms of religious outlook on children，Ri Guang Hui regarded children as the dependency of God and the center of religious education from three aspects：children's orientation，rights，and responsibilities.It recognized the childhood values，development rights and gender equality of Christian children，and emphasized the religious responsibilities of Christian children to families，churches，and＂Christ China＂.On this basis，the organization adopted educational methods suitable for Christian children，implemented the educational policy of focusing on Christian children and taking religion as its attribution.It attempted to cultivate ideal religious children with firm Christian faith，Christian morality，broad vision，and active spirit of serving Christianity by telling religious stories，choir，praying，handicrafts，games，and other educational activities.All its activities were a one-way projection of religious authoritarian values，reflecting the pre-set religious premise in children's development.The purpose was to train faithful young subjects of God，which might have led to interference and suppression in children's psychological world，resulting in ceremonial submission and obedience.

Most of the local chronicles of Zhaoqing in the Ming and Qing dynasties have a column for＂Customs＂，which faithfully records the collective social customs of the people，including historical materials of women.Unlike the“Honorable Women”column in the compilation of local chronicles，which describes the chastity and filial piety of a few exemplary women，these historical materials write about the collective lives of women，reflecting the diversity and freedom of women during the seasonal festivals in Zhaoqing in the Ming and Qing dynasties，and even include the gathering parties of men and women as well as witchcraft scenes in the region south of the Five Ridges.
