On the Winter Solstice and during the Spring Festival, there is a custom of having dumplings which links the whole family together. This story develops from eating dumplings, making dumplings, and back again to eating dumplings. The opening gets straight to the point. “Winter Solstice has arrived. Let’s have dumplings.” Then, the story is narrated in a loop structure as a means of telling stories in children’s literature. Paul, a kind-hearted child, ate dumplings until he was full at Granny Fortune’s house. He also shared the dumplings given by Granny Fortune three times, to the dog, the cat, and Bebe. They enjoyed the dumplings very much. Afterwards, friends worked together making dumplings. Many animals who loved dumplings were attracted and joined them. Everyone put forth an effort in making dumplings. At last, everyone had homemade dumplings and felt very happy.
