New work has been launched in the “Recognizing and Understanding China” series published by China Renmin University Press. China in Figures: Development and Achievements (abbreviated as China in Figures), written by He Yaomin, a secondary professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Economics at the Renmin University of China, and Zhen Feng, an associate professor at the School of Statistics at the Renmin University of China, characterized by its vivid style, easy-to-understand sentences, and an excellent binding, has quickly attracted readers’ attention. It was selected as a “China Good Book” in 2021 and the key publication for theme publishing of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China in 2021.
With 119 charts, concise words, and an intuitive presentation, this book depicts the glorious course of the Chinese people’s arduous struggles under the leadership of the Communist Party of China over the past more than 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially the historic achievements and changes they can feel since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. By interpreting various fields involved in China’s development with a series of data from different dimensions, it depicts a more intuitive, vivid image of China’s economy for the readers, enabling them to know and understand the historical changes since the reform and opening-up, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, in a more comprehensive, systematic, objective and true manner.
Fortunately, the Chinese version has been appreciated by the industry and the readers, and the copyrights in many languages have been successfully exported. Up to now, the Thai, Arabic, and Spanish versions have been published. In addition, the copyright export agreements of the Turkish, Polish, and Korean versions have been signed.
I believe that in the future, more and more foreign readers will come to further know and understand the real, vivid China in all respects in the new era by reading this book. It is our initial intention in planning this book that we can reflect on the pulse and melody of the new era and display the mission and responsibility of publishers by publishing more masterpieces.
