Love China All My Life: Isabel Crook’s Stories, written by the famous writer Tan Kai after three years of interviews, is a reportage that reflects on the centennial life of Isabel Crook, the winner of the “Medal of Friendship” from the People’s Republic of China. As an anthropologist, an international communist, an educator, and a pioneer in English teaching in New China, Isabel Crook shared the same breath and destiny with the Chinese people, devoted herself to the great cause of building New China, and made outstanding contributions to China’s education and friendly foreign exchanges. She spent her whole life “showing the world a real and vivid China and spreading the peaceful and beautiful voice of China.”
Isabel’s stories belong to both China and the world. During the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Xi Jinping awarded Isabel in person, conveying the Party and the people’s respect and gratitude to the international friends that Isabel represented, who had contributed their sweats, efforts and even lives to New China.
