TheLionusedtobethekingof beasts.But now he is old and weak. He feels sorry forhimself.

Lion： I used to be so young. I used to besostrong. Myroarusedtobesobig. Butnow … I am old and weak. My roar is small. Ican'trun. I can'thunt. Poor me！

The Lion is very sad and worried.

Lion： I'm hungry. But now how can I getsome food？ I must think of a way fast. Let methink.

TheLionthinksandthinks. Finally，he

comes up with an idea.

Lion： Hey， wait. I still have my sharp teethandclaws. Icanusethem. Onceananimalcomes into my cave， I can catch it. Yes， that'sit！ I'll say I'm very sick. TheotheranimalshearthattheLionisvery sick. They are all very worried.

Deer： Did you hear about the Lion？

Goat： No， I didn't. Is anything wrong？

Deer： Well， I heard that he is very sick. Hemight die soon.

Goat： That's too bad. He used to besostrongand healthy. Let's visit him before hedies.

Deer： Sure.

The Deer and the Goat visit the Lion inthe cave. They never come out.

Rabbit： Did you hear the news， squirrel？

Squirrel： What news？

Rabbit： The Lion is very sick. He is dying，I think.

Rabbit： How about visiting him and cheering him up？

The Rabbit and the Squirrel meet at noonthe next day. They are a little afraid to go insidethe cave.

Rabbit： Lets go inside.

Squirrel： Okay. You go in first.

Squirrel： Lets go in together.

The two go inside the cave.

Lion： Oh， thank you for coming.

Rabbit： How are you， sir？

Squirrel： Are you okay？

Lion： Its nothing. Im just old.

But then the Lion suddenly stands up andshows his teeth and claws.

Lion： Grr… Grr… I may be old， but I canstill catch you！??！

Squirrel： We were tricked！

Rabbit： Let's get out！

Lion： It's too late. You are trapped. Ha！Ha！ Ha！

The Lion eats up the Rabbit and the Squirrel.

Lion： Yum. Yum. Thatwasdelicious. Iwonder who will be next？

Lion： All of the animals came here exceptfor the Fox. Why isn't the Fox coming？ I'mgettinghungryagain. Hmm … Shh … Ihearsomething.

Fox： Mr. Lion， are you in there？

Fox： How are you feeling today？

Fox： Pooh. You can't trick me， Lion. I ammuch smarter than you.

從前有只獅子，他曾經是百獸之王?？墒乾F在卻又老又弱。他覺得自己很可憐。

獅子：想當年我多么年輕，多么強壯。

我的吼聲曾經震耳欲聾，可是現在……我又老又弱，我的吼聲也沒有了威力。我不能跑，也抓不住獵物。唉，我真可憐啊。

獅子非常難過，憂心忡忡。

獅子：我好餓?？墒俏以鯓硬拍艿玫绞澄锬?？我得趕快想個辦法。讓我想想。

獅子想啊想啊。終于，他想出了一個主意。

獅子：嘿，等一等。我的爪子和牙齒依然鋒利。我可以用它們啊。一旦有動物來到我的洞穴里，我就可以抓住它。對，就這么辦！我不妨說我病得很重，這樣所有的動物都會來探望我。一旦他們走進我的洞穴，我就把他們全吃掉。多么聰明的點子啊！為什么以前我就沒想到呢？哈哈哈……

其他的動物聽說獅子病得很重，都很擔心。

鹿：你聽說獅子的事了嗎？

山羊：沒有啊，他怎么啦？

鹿：聽說他病得很重。可能就快要死了。

山羊：那太不幸了。他曾經是那么強壯、那么健康。在他死之前我們去探望他吧！

鹿：好吧。

鹿和山羊去洞穴里探望獅子。但是他們卻再也沒有出來。

兔子：你聽說了嗎？松鼠？

松鼠：什么事？

兔子：獅子病得很嚴重，我想，他快要死了。

松鼠：可憐的獅子，我們能為他做什么呢？

兔子：咱們去探望他、鼓勵他好嗎？

松鼠：你真的這么想嗎？萬一他把我們吃了怎么辦？我有點兒害怕。

兔子：我也有點兒害怕?？墒撬〉煤苤亍Ｋ芴撊?，抓不到我們的。

松鼠：你說的對，咱們一塊兒去吧！

兔子：太好了！咱倆約好在獅子的洞穴前見面。明天中午，好嗎？別遲到了。

松鼠：我一定去。不見不散。

第二天中午，兔子和松鼠在約定的地點碰面。他們戰(zhàn)戰(zhàn)兢兢地走進洞穴。

兔子：我們進去吧。

松鼠：好，你先進。

兔子：不，你先進。

松鼠：我們一起進去吧。

兔子：好。不過別呆太久。

他們走進了洞穴深處。

獅子：哦，謝謝你們來看我。

兔子：你身體還好嗎？獅子先生。松鼠：你沒事吧？

獅子：沒什么，我只是太老了。

可是，就在這個時候，獅子突然站了起來，露出了他的牙齒和爪子。

獅子：嗷……我可能是老了些，可是我還是能抓到你們。

松鼠：我們上當了！

兔子：我們快逃吧！

獅子：太晚了。你們跑不了了。哈哈……

獅子吃掉了兔子和松鼠。

獅子：嗯，真好吃。不知道下一個來送死的會是誰？

就這樣，獅子一只一只地幾乎吃掉了所有動物。

獅子：除了狐貍，所有的動物都來了。

為什么狐貍沒有來呢？我又餓了。嗯……噓……我聽到什么聲音。

狐貍：獅子先生，您在里面嗎？

獅子：狐貍終于還是來了（喃喃自語） 是我，我在這兒。狐貍，請進吧。

狐貍：你今天感覺怎么樣？

獅子：感覺好多了。可是你為什么不進來呢？請進來吧。我非常想見你。

狐貍：我也想進去，先生?？墒抢锩嫣珨D了吧！

獅子：你這是什么意思？這里面除了我，沒有其他人啊。

狐貍：真的嗎？那我就不懂了。這洞穴口有這么多動物進去時留下的腳印，可是卻沒有一個走出來的腳印。其他所有的動物都在哪兒呢？

獅子：這……給我一點點時間。我會向你解釋的。那是因為……嗯……

狐貍：沒關系。我晚點再來。好好保重。再見。

獅子：等一等！聽我解釋！回來！

狐貍頭也不回地回家去了。

狐貍：哼，你騙不了我的，獅子。我可比你聰明多了。
