The Poetry Conference 詩歌大會

Poetry， one of the most beautiful and amazing cultures all over the world， is the source of human art development. Since the Chinese Poetry Conference on CCTV-1 hit the screen in 2016， classical Chinese poetry has become popular among people.

In order to make more students feel the charm of poetry， our school also holds a Poetry Conference in Liangjiang at the end of every year. This years is the fourth conference.

Our class were excited and nervous because this was the second and the last time that we had joined in the poetry conference. Most importantly， we entered the final competition this time.

The first part of the competition is “The great tide washes out the sand and the gold comes out（大浪淘沙）”. Three members from each team stand on the stage with four boards in hand. After the host shows the question， they show their choices using the board. If the answer to the question is right， they will get one point. If they give the wrong answer， they have to leave the stage. The game isn't over until there is only one winner. We just sat in the audience. We murmured the questions and sometimes discussed the difficult ones. Sadly， our class only got 17 points. When the first part is over， Mr Wang， a popular Chinese teacher gave some comments and explained the background information about some poems.

The second part is “Speed and Poetics（速度與詩情）”. The rules are a little different from last round. Three members from a team stand in a triangle. One describes the words about some verse of a poem， the one who can't see the questions quesses what it is. They take a turn to guess and describe. The group who can guess the most is the winner. When our team stood on the stage， we expected a lot. But most of the time， we held our breath and were upset because they couldn't quickly guess the answer. In the end， Class 16 got a way more points than the rest teams.

There were also two other amazing parts of the conference. Each of them had its charm. At last， Class 16， Grade Two claimed the champion. Although our class didn't get very good grades， every member of the team tried their best. Each team added a lot of excitement to the poetry conference. The talent of some outstanding players impressed us a lot. Their Han Fu showed the beauty of our traditional clothing.
