誰(shuí)能夠忘記？

我在美國(guó)康涅狄格大學(xué)讀博士時(shí)，第一次見(jiàn)到中國(guó)人。我很擔(dān)心該如何與他們打交道。 但隨著時(shí)光的流逝，我認(rèn)識(shí)了中國(guó)朋友陳哲。他非常善良，樂(lè)于助人。我和他在一起共處了兩年，我們的辦公桌緊挨著。記得在康涅狄格州，有一天晚上，我邀請(qǐng)哲以埃及的用餐方式與我共進(jìn)晚餐。他非常贊成這個(gè)主意，于是我們一起吃了埃及美食。他說(shuō)很喜歡埃及的美食并且直到現(xiàn)在都記憶猶新。我們一直保持聯(lián)系， 他在廈門(mén)UX高速集成電路有限公司擔(dān)任高級(jí)工程師，曾多次邀請(qǐng)我去參觀，但我總是找不到合適的時(shí)間。

去長(zhǎng)春，毫不猶豫接受邀請(qǐng)

2011年從美國(guó)回國(guó)后，我始終對(duì)中國(guó)人充滿著熱情。我總是忘不了他們的善良、合作以及努力。我始終緊隨著他們，實(shí)現(xiàn)了從未有過(guò)的夢(mèng)想，我收到了在中國(guó)科學(xué)院長(zhǎng)春光學(xué)精密機(jī)械與物理研究所（CIOMP）的邀請(qǐng)，前往新的國(guó)際聯(lián)合實(shí)驗(yàn)室工作。那是2017年4月，盡管遭到了一些好朋友的反對(duì)，但我毫不猶豫地接受了，我喜歡與中國(guó)人一起工作。如果沒(méi)有認(rèn)真的規(guī)劃和樂(lè)觀心態(tài)，這種改變我人生的工作經(jīng)歷就不會(huì)發(fā)生，也不會(huì)為我打開(kāi)與此相關(guān)的各扇門(mén)。

長(zhǎng)春是世界上最具前瞻性的城市之一，其發(fā)展速度之快令人驚訝。這是一個(gè)綠色城市，擁有許多花園和公園，擁有中國(guó)最大的人工林凈月公園。這個(gè)城市可以為外國(guó)人提供許多便利和機(jī)會(huì)。這是一座現(xiàn)代化的城市，同時(shí)有著悠久且有趣的歷史。對(duì)于想要移居中國(guó)的外國(guó)人來(lái)說(shuō)，長(zhǎng)春是一個(gè)很好的選擇。

到長(zhǎng)春，感覺(jué)是最幸福的人

2017年8月，我和家人到達(dá)長(zhǎng)春機(jī)場(chǎng)。于治博士在等著我們，他站在機(jī)場(chǎng)大廳，舉著有我名字的標(biāo)牌。當(dāng)我走向他時(shí)，他熱情地和我握手，并將手推車從車中移出。一輛豪華巴士在等著我和家人。于治為我們準(zhǔn)備了果汁和水，還為孩子們準(zhǔn)備了糖果。經(jīng)歷了長(zhǎng)時(shí)間的旅程，這一切讓我感到非常放松，我在車上睡著了，疲憊的身體和緊繃的神經(jīng)都放松下來(lái)。我們到達(dá)了長(zhǎng)春光機(jī)所專家公寓，在那里住了五個(gè)晚上。

It was my first time to meet Chinese when I was a Ph.D.student at Connecticut University in America. I was very worried about dealing with them. Days passed until I got to know my Chinese friend Zhe Chen closely.He was very kind-hearted and extremely helpful. I spent two years with him, as his office was sticking to my desk completely. One night in Connecticut, I offered Zhe to have dinner with me in the Egyptian way. My friend very much welcomed this idea and we ate Egyptian food together. He was very happy with this food and he will not forget it until now. I am still in touch with him until now. He is working as a senior engineer at Xiamen UX High-speed IC CO., Xiamen. He invited me to visit his city many times but unfortunately, I did not find a suitable time.

Did not hesitate to accept the offer to Changchun

After returning from America in 2011, I was very passionate about the Chinese people. I always remember them with the kindness of their hearts, their cooperation, and their continuous hard work. Yes, I followed them in my life's journey until I achieved what I had never dreamed of. Then the surprise comes when I got the offer to work in a new international joint lab at the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. I remember it was April 2017 and I did not hesitate to accept the offer despite the objections of some close friends. However, I adore working with the Chinese. Without the diligent planning, and intuitive optimism from everyone, this life changing work experience would not have happened, and would not have opened all the doors it did for me.

Changchun is one of the most futuristic cities in the world and it's amazing how fast it has grown. It is a green city, with extensive gardens and parks and with the largest planted forest in China, Jingyue Park. The city has a lot to offer foreign expats. it is a modern city in China with a long and interesting history. This makes living in Changchun a great option for expats moving to China.

早上，于治博士帶著我去工作地點(diǎn)。我發(fā)現(xiàn)所有同事都在迎接我，表達(dá)他們的開(kāi)心。尤其是當(dāng)我邁進(jìn)能夠俯瞰樓下整個(gè)花園的舒適的辦公室時(shí)，我感覺(jué)那一刻我是最幸福的人。

在美好的歲月中，時(shí)光飛逝。我從沒(méi)想要過(guò)任何東西，但同事對(duì)我都很好。每個(gè)人都在幫助我，讓我感到幸?？鞓?lè)。白雨虹教授使我和我的家人感到賓至如歸；孫文婷女士總是帶著美麗的笑容以一顆善良的心來(lái)幫助我解決困難；李昕女士幫我一家五口找到合適的公寓。我怎能忘記她們的友好與善良。

在長(zhǎng)春，美好的經(jīng)歷，美好的人

應(yīng)中國(guó)朋友的邀請(qǐng)，我們參加了許多重要活動(dòng)。我不能忘記，王卉女士帶我們?nèi)覅⒓恿碎L(zhǎng)春外事辦組織的中秋節(jié)活動(dòng)。我們邊聽(tīng)邊學(xué)著制作中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)月餅，參加特別的中國(guó)表演并享用了許多中國(guó)美食。我的朋友于偉利博士邀請(qǐng)我們?cè)谀虾砂断硎苊髅牡年?yáng)光。我們一起游玩并乘船欣賞了南湖美景。這些都是難忘的日子，尤其是因?yàn)榕c他們這些美好的人在一起。

我記得在中國(guó)疫情暴發(fā)時(shí)，我妻子僅建議了一下要離開(kāi)中國(guó)，我的大兒子貝加德（Begad）便哭了一整夜。我去兒子的房間問(wèn)他為什么哭，他看著我說(shuō)：“我不能離開(kāi)中國(guó)，我想在這里度過(guò)余生。爸爸，你要離開(kāi)我留我一人在這里嗎？”然后我對(duì)他說(shuō)：“我也愛(ài)中國(guó)和中國(guó)人，對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)離開(kāi)中國(guó)很難?！彪S后我們決定留在中國(guó)。隨著時(shí)間的流逝，中國(guó)在面對(duì)任何困難時(shí)都表現(xiàn)得強(qiáng)大且堅(jiān)定。

As the happiest person in many moments after arrival in Changchun

In August 2017, I arrived at Changchun Airport with my family. A bright, bright face called Zhi Yu, was waiting for us. Dr. Zhi Yu stands in the airport arrival hall and holds a sign with my name written on it. When I approached him, he started to shake hands warmly and determined to move a Shanti cart out of the car.A luxury bus awaited me and my family. Yu gave us many juices, water, and sweets for my kids. Then I felt completely relaxed as if I fell asleep deeply and rested my body and nerves after a journey that extended for long hours. We arrived at the CIOMP expert hotelwhere we stayed stayed for five nights.

Early in the morning, Dr. Yu came to take me to my workplace. I found all colleagues waiting for me in the name of the greeting and expressing their happiness for me being among them. In fact, I was the happiest person in those moments, especially when I entered my luxurious office, which overlooks the Garden of Heaven.

The years passed quickly as if they were lightning because of the beauty of them, so I did not feel them.I never asked for anything but the Chinese colleagues hurriedly executed it. Everyone just seeks to serve me and make me happy. I cannot deny the virtue of Professor Bai Yuhong, because she managed to make me feel at home and among my family. And who can forget the young lady, Ms. Wenting Sun, who produces that veteran to repel the attacks with her beautiful smile and good heart? And from my family, we can not forget Ms.Xin Li’s smile while searching for a suitable apartment for a family of five. She was and still is a wonderful lady.

很有趣的一件事是我的三個(gè)孩子會(huì)說(shuō)中文而我不會(huì)。因此，去商店時(shí)我需要帶著其中一個(gè)。售貨員知道我是那個(gè)“父親”，甚至稱我兒子為“翻譯”。

在中國(guó)的生活教會(huì)了我們很多，每一次經(jīng)歷都是獨(dú)一無(wú)二的。 正是這些美好的經(jīng)歷與相遇，我們被當(dāng)?shù)厝私邮懿⒅饾u融入中國(guó)豐富的傳統(tǒng)文化，也能夠代表并表現(xiàn)我們自己的文化。我們面臨著與我們祖國(guó)不同的日常生活方式，結(jié)識(shí)了許多朋友，他們很高興視我們?yōu)橘e客，與他們一同工作改變了我的生活。我的言語(yǔ)無(wú)法表達(dá)對(duì)那些花費(fèi)時(shí)間精力在我和我的家人身上的美好的人們的感謝。謝謝你白教授，謝謝你文婷，謝謝你王女士，謝謝你偉利，謝謝你昕。感謝每一位熱愛(ài)自己的祖國(guó)，努力為祖國(guó)服務(wù)，并熱心幫助陌生人的中國(guó)人！

With wonderful experience and people in Changchun

At the invitation of our Chinese friends, we attended many important events. I cannot forget Ms. WANG Hui brought our whole family to attend the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival organized by the Changchun Foreign Affairs Office. In fact, it was a wonderful day, as we listened to making donuts, attending special Chinese shows, and eating a very large amount of fine Chinese food. This wonderful day promised. My friend Dr.Weili Yu invited us to enjoy a sunny day on the banks of South Lake. We played a lot on that wonderful day and boarded boats to see the beauty of the lake. These are unforgettable days, especially since they were with wonderful people.

My oldest son, Begad, I remember when he cried all night because my wife only suggested that we should leave China due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.I went to my son's room to ask him why he was crying,so he looked at me and said: “I cannot leave China and want to spend the rest of my life here. Can you leave and leave me alone here, my Dad? ”Then I said to him,“I also love China and the Chinese people, and it is very difficult for me to leave China.” And we decided to stay in China.As time fliesand China is proving strong and steadfast against any difficulties.

It is ridiculous that my three children speak Chinese while I do not. Also, I need to take one of them when I go to the shop. Sellers even know me as “the father” and call my son a “translator”.

Our life in china brought forth many lessons and each experience we encountered was unique. Through it,we not only were accepted by everyone into the rich traditions and Chinese culture, but were allowed to represent ourselves and our own culture. We were exposed to a lifestyle foreign to our daily routines and met with various friends that were beyond thrilled to receive us as guests, and offer us life changing opportunities to work with them. My words fail to thank those wonderful people who have put their time and effort into making me and my family happy. Thank you, Prof. Bai. Thank you Wenting. Thank you, Ms.Wang. Thank you, Dr. Weili. Thank you, Xin. Thanks to every Chinese who loves his country and seeks to serve her and helps the stranger.
