一、Content analysis
1.analysis of this unit and content arrangement
The topic of this unit is to learn to describe animals and express preferences.After learning this unit,students will be able to master the dialogue “---Why do you like … ? ---Because …”,and learn to use the key words and sentences to say something about animals they see.And also they are expected to be aware of the protection of endangered animals and the love for nature.
The contents of Section B:Students are asked to choose the proper adjectives by looking at the pictures,and then they have to listen to the tapes to finish the given tasks.2a—2c are focused on the care of endangered animals.2a is to lead in the topic of protecting elephants by reading a passage.This is mainly to develop the awareness of protecting animals and personal qualities.Activity 2b is to ask students to read the passage with some reading skills to know about the main idea of it and choose the best title of the passage,training the ability to read articles.2c is to learn to make the mind map,helping students to summarize the detailed and abstract information,and then classify the key points of the passage into several parts.This way can not only help students to further understand the passage,but also improve their abilities to think and memorize the key points,and illuminate their imagination and creativity.
2.The analysis of students:
For the students of class 11and 12,they have already been familiar with the new school,the teacher and the classes.All of them can get the tasks clearly in class and actively take pat in the class activities.All of them are interested in English learning.Now they have known something about the topic of this unit and grasped the key words and sentences,so its easy and natural for them to start this period --about the protection of animals.And they are looking forward to reading the passage 2b.
3.Teaching aims
(1)knowledge and ability:
To be able to read key words and expressions of 2b and know the meanings.
To know about the main idea of the passage;
(2)Skills:To train students reading ability by using the reading skills and the strategy
--- mind map.
(3)Moral attitude:To know more about endangered animals and try to protect them as possible as they can.
4.Key points and difficulties:
Key points:To grasp the main idea about the passage using the reading strategies.
Difficult points:To use the target language to describe animals
