星期三Wednesday

昨晚我加倍用心地禱告，祈求我的舞伴不是露比。Last night I prayed extra hard that I wouldnt end up with Ruby as my dance partner.

然后我就開始擔(dān)心，人的一輩子能實(shí)現(xiàn)的愿望總數(shù)會不會是固定的，而我卻把愿望揮霍得太快了。我可不想后來才發(fā)現(xiàn)自己早早把愿望用完了，因?yàn)槲乙恢痹S愿許個不停。Then I started worrying that maybe you only get a certain number of prayers answered in your liftime and Im burning through mine too fast. Id hate to find out later on that I used up all my chits， because Ive been acting like Ive got an unlimited supply.

我想我還是謹(jǐn)慎點(diǎn)好。就在這個周末，樓上洗手間的馬桶堵了，我就曾經(jīng)禱告水管工修馬桶之后不要用我們的馬桶。I probably need to be more careful about that. This weekend the toilet in the upstairs bathroom got clogged， and I prayed that the plumber wouldnt use our bathroom after he fixed it.

老實(shí)說，我的祈愿成功率是75%。我不知道這個成功率算高還是低，不過我知道無論我禱告得多虔誠，我也別指望生日禮物能拿到一把激光劍。For the record， I have about a 75% success rate with my prayers. I dont know if thats good or bad， but one thing Im pretty sure of is that Im never gonna get a lightsaber for my birthday， no matter how badly I want it.

不管怎樣，我下次許愿的時候一定要越具體越好，因?yàn)榻裉煳业脑竿隗w育課上實(shí)現(xiàn)了，但結(jié)果卻不盡人意。Anyway， I think Ive got to be a lot more specific when I pray for something， because today in Phys Ed my wish was granted， but Im not happy about the way things turned out.

剛開始上課的時候，莫雷塔夫人報(bào)了各人舞伴的名字，她點(diǎn)到露比·伯德的時候我連呼吸都屏住了。At the beginning of class， Mrs. Moretta called out names for dance partners， and I held my breath when she got to Ruby bird.
