大學(xué)英語課堂教學(xué)中的分組討論
——以College Life單元為例

大學(xué)英語課堂教學(xué)過程中，分組討論法是指在老師講解本單元課文前，在特定的語境下，將學(xué)生分成若干小組，圍繞課文設(shè)定不同的討論話題，使學(xué)生對大學(xué)生活有新的感悟，對大學(xué)內(nèi)涵有更深入的了解。本文擬以《新編大學(xué)英語》第4冊第7單元“College Life”為例，具體分析小組討論的話題應(yīng)用。

一、分類話題

(一)校園 Campus

Expectations：big and nice campus with green grass here and there and a large sports ground

Reality：Just as what I dreamed of——a huge campus with tall modern buildings，green trees，blooming flowers and a small river flowing around.

Contrary to what I expected，it's an old campus，large though，with grey buildings，little grass，and a small pond.

(二)教學(xué)樓 Classroom buildings

Expectations：large new classrooms with modern facilities

Reality：well-equipped teaching buildings with multimedia facilities

large old buildings，with a few classrooms equipped with modern facilities

(三)寢室 Dormitories

Expectations：a bit crowded space for everyone

Reality：True，but we may choose to share a room with 4 roommates

(四)學(xué)生餐廳 Students' cafeterias

Expectations：large dining halls，filled with students

Reality：True，and there is a great variety of food that will certainly appeal to us

(五)圖書館 Library

Expectations：with a large number of books and magazines；wide and bright reading rooms

Reality：True，except that the reading rooms are not big enough and students have to get there early in order to find a seat.

(六)同學(xué) Classmates

Expectations：friendly and easygoing

Reality-：True.

(七)老師 Teachers

Expectations：old，strict，wearing thick glasses，and conventionally dressed

Reality：Not true because many teachers are very young，especially English teachers.Some teachers do not put on glasses and many are dressed casually.

二、簡要陳述觀點

There are a lot of differences between what I expected of college life and what I have actually undergone.I used to think college life would be as joyful as I could imagine.I wouldn't have to sruggle for exams any more.I would be taught by many old yet learned professors.They would be very friendly and kind-hearted.After class I'd have much time to pursue my interests and talk with my classmates.But the fact is that I feel as less relaxed as before because the courses are difficult and our everyday timetable is fully occupied.We have more than eight hours of classes and a few hours spent in the library.What a kind of life ! Besides，in an ocean of gifted students from all over the country，I'm not the pride of my teachers as I used to be any longer.I have to study hard in class and try even harder to focus on the assignments of different subjects.Anyway，I do make progress，which makes me feel good about myself.

三、自由討論

Work in groups and tell your group members：

1、how many classmates in your middle school are enrolled in universities，colleges;

2、the location of the universities；

3、what their majors are.
