[Editorial]
Every July, it is time for a batch of art students to bid farewell to their campus life and step into society. In this year’s graduation season, we bring together a number of special reports and researches reflecting the creation and news of college students and young artists. Here we would like to express our gratitude to President Deng Guoyuan and other predecessors for their heartfelt wishes for the young generation, and in the rise of China, people are calling for the young mind with a special concern.
In the column of Figures of Today, we focus on the abstract artist Liu Gang. He is a predecessor of Chinese abstract art, and more importantly, a forerunner of abstract art education. His achievements and relevant reflections in this field also represent a generation of Chinese artists’ effort to corporate abstract art into Chinese native culture.
On the occasion of graduation season, the columns of Art Vision and Exhibition Reviews center on some exhibitions reflecting the creations of young artists, in which the visitors may get acquainted with the recent activities of creation of various contemporary young artists and academic painters. The columns of Art Ecology and Overseas Art carry articles about folk art and gender art respectively. As we know, art research is an area that needs to broaden the horizon, and our research today serves as a prelude to an era of broader vision.
