《Mulholland Drive》出自美國(guó)洛杉磯獨(dú)立民謠搖滾樂隊(duì)The Never Ending于今年6月發(fā)行的首張EP——《One》。這支樂隊(duì)的成員包括主唱黛比·賴安（Debby Ryan）、吉他手凱爾·摩爾（Kyle Moore）和卡門·庫(kù)班達(dá)（Carman Kubanda）、貝斯手埃德溫·卡蘭薩（Edwin Carranza）、鍵盤手哈利·艾倫（Harry Allen）以及鼓手約翰尼·弗蘭科（Johnny Franco）。盡管這張EP宣告樂壇注入了一股新鮮血液，但實(shí)際上樂隊(duì)的主唱Debby Ryan并非素人。從小累積的表演經(jīng)驗(yàn)以及跨國(guó)生活帶來(lái)的藝術(shù)靈感使她早早成名于迪士尼的熱門劇集，同時(shí)她也創(chuàng)作并演唱了多首熱門歌曲。

《Mulholland Drive》作為《One》的第一首歌，利用民謠的質(zhì)樸成功地將Debby與迪士尼眾星區(qū)別開來(lái)。摒棄主流音樂流水線式的繁復(fù)編曲，只用簡(jiǎn)單的吉他和間或穿插的和聲鋪底，及至歌曲末尾再用微不可聞的耳語(yǔ)點(diǎn)綴，盡顯民謠的淳樸與親切。主唱Debby的聲音自始至終都有一種酷酷的稚嫩感——我們能聽出這是一個(gè)略帶沙啞的小女生之音，但聲音卻沒有青春的躁動(dòng)，反而傳達(dá)出了一種靜得可怕的無(wú)情緒狀，就像電影《Mulholland Drive》中反復(fù)出現(xiàn)的光芒與光芒的遮擋物，極具象征意義，而同時(shí)又在這種虛實(shí)之間捉摸不定、徘徊踱步。在這里，《Mulholland Drive》絕不止是好萊塢的一條著名大道，卻化身為The Never Ending用音樂書寫思考之路的起點(diǎn)。
