Unit for Hydroaromatization of C4Hydrocarbons at Hengrun Petrochemical Company Attained Design Target

The 200 kt/a C4hydroaromatization unit at the Hengrun Petrochemical Co. in Puyang city, Henan province has been operating for 10 months since its commissioning in 2012. The aromatization product from this unit has an octane rating in the range of RON 94—96 and a distillation range of 36—204 ℃, and is basically aromatics-free. During the aromatization reaction the light ends yield reaches 1.92%, and the LPG yield is equal to 65.74%, showing that the operating level of the commercial aromatization unit has fully meet the design target.

It is learned that this C4hydroaromatization package technology developed by the Petrochemical Research Institute of PetroChina can convert refinery C4hydrocarbons, which are used as the feedstock in the presence of nano-scale zeolite catalyst in a fixed bed reactor, into mixed aromatics or gasoline component with high add-value to realize deep processing and effective utilization of C4hydrocarbons. Compared with the similar domestic or overseas techniques, this technology features mild reaction regime, high conversion rate, stable operating condition, and environmentally friendly advantages, with its technical proficiency being on a par with internationally advanced level.
