電視之爭(zhēng)

Joe and Lin Zhi are sat watching television in their apartment， and have to decide what they want to watch next.

Joe: That was an awesome game! I love watching football matches that are as exciting as that one.

Joe: Hey what? No no no… there's more football on after this!

Lin Zhi: If you think I'm going to sit through another 90 minutes of boredom， you've got another think coming. No， we're going to watch my soap opera， as punishment for making me watch that rubbish.

林芝：如果你覺(jué)得我要再無(wú)聊地坐上90分鐘，你還是另想主意吧。不可能，你要陪我看電視劇，作為你讓我看那種垃圾節(jié)目的懲罰。

Joe: Aww， no way! These soap operas are all the same. The handsome guy gets the cute girl， but the cute girl's sister is in love with the handsome guy， and then someone loses their job or they all decide to emigrate to Botswana or whatever… It's just so dull!

Joe: But I find the news really depressing. There's never any good news， only bad stuff.

Lin Zhi: See， this is why you have such a small mind， Joe. All you think about is football and stuff that's affecting your own life.

林芝：看吧，這就是為什么你會(huì)如此的“見(jiàn)不多，識(shí)不廣”。喬，你腦子里想的全是足球，這影響了你的生活。

Joe: There's nothing small-minded about it. I like my leisure time to be entertaining， so I don't want to spend it feeling sad.

喬：這和見(jiàn)多識(shí)廣扯不上關(guān)系吧。我的閑暇時(shí)間就是要娛樂(lè)，我不想過(guò)得太過(guò)悲傷。

Lin Zhi: That's a fair enough point. Okay， if not the news， what else should we watch?

Joe: Why don't we put on a DVD? One we both like?

Lin Zhi: Hmmm， maybe we could start watching the next season of Ugly Betty.

Joe: Sounds like a plan. You get the DVD， I'll go make some coffee.
