After an epic 16-month campaign， New York Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton is to concede her bid for the Democratic candidacy in America's 2008 Presidential Election， in favour of Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.

Clinton， the wife of former President Bill Clinton， is expected to officially confirm her retirement from the Nominational race on June 16th. It marks the end of her bid to become the first female President of the United States， and leaves the way open for Obama to become the first black occupant of the Oval Office.
