1981年，聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)宣布將9月21日正式定為國(guó)際和平日，供各國(guó)人民紀(jì)念和加強(qiáng)和平的理想。
國(guó)際和平日定于每年9月第三個(gè)星期二舉行。這一天恰逢聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)在紐約舉行的常會(huì)開幕。聯(lián)合國(guó)在1981年宣布國(guó)際和平日，并邀請(qǐng)全體會(huì)員國(guó)，非政府組織和各界人士以一種方式慶祝這個(gè)節(jié)日，借以表現(xiàn)聯(lián)合國(guó)承諾維持各個(gè)民族和各個(gè)國(guó)家之間的和平。
In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly (聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)) passed resolution (決議) 36/67 declaring (宣布) an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace.
The resolution: “Declares that the International Day of Peace shall henceforth(今后) be observed (遵守) as a day of global ceasefire (停火；停戰(zhàn)) and non-violence(無暴力), an invitation to all nations and people to honour a cessation (停止) of hostilities for the duration of the Day...
Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, and non-governmental organizations and individuals to commemorate(紀(jì)念,慶祝), in an appropriate manner, the International Day of Peace, including through education and public awareness (認(rèn)識(shí)), and to cooperate (合作,協(xié)力) with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire.”
You Can Be a Part of It!
Around the world, people will be planting Peace Poles(和平柱), rededicating their Peace Poles, conducting World Peace Prayer Ceremonies, participating in community service projects, and observing the International Day of Peace in service and prayer for peace. You are encouraged to commemorate(紀(jì)念) the day in whatever way you feel appropriate, whether that means organizing a large program with thousands of others, or silently taking a moment for peace by yourself. Remember to include the prayer May Peace Prevail on Earth!
