W: Yes. For me, the piece of historical clothing has untold stories and philosophical ideas in its every detail. Instead of imitating people as I used to do, I have jumped out of my comfort zone and found the style that suits me best. Through hanfu, I have found myself and so many unexplored things in my life.

M: You have such a deep understanding of hanfu. Will you be engaged in designing hanfu in the future?

W: Its highly unlikely. Although I have no talent in designing clothes, that doesnt stop me from liking them.

W: Well, this is a program for this morning which starts at 9:30. All the new students will first gather in the meeting room where youll be introduced to the staff.

M: Where is that?

W: Ill tell you in a moment. But just let me tell you the details of this mornings activities.

M: OK, then.

W: Firstly, at a quarter to ten, in the hall, which is next to the meeting room, the Director of the Studies will talk to you about the different courses and their requirements. This should last about 45 minutes. Then at about half past ten, the Student Union will talk about some social activities that we offer. Thats in the same place. He will finish at about 11:00. Then there will be a short break, after which youll be taken to Classroom 3 at about 11:15 for a test.

M: Oh, I cant believe Ill have to take a test.

W: Take it easy. Its not like an exam. It just helps us find your level of English and put you in the suitable class.

M: OK, I see.

Hello! Welcome to our online parent-teacher meeting. We are so excited to share information about our next field trip for first and second grade class. We will be going to the Hands On Childrens Museum in Olympia where the kids will be able to see exhibits on art and science. The date for the field trip is Tuesday, 28th February. So we will leave the school at 10 am and arrive at the museum around 10:30, and head back to the school around 12:30 pm. We will get a free bus ride, which is awesome because it will save us a lot of money. The cost per child is still not confirmed because we are waiting for the museum to apply a reduction, but it should not be more than 8 dollars. The museum requires one volunteer parent for every 5 children, so we will need at least ten of them. Also as a reminder that children need to pack their own lunch. If you wish to attend the field trip and volunteer, please let us know via email, by adding your name to the list linked below as soon as possible.

M: Thats not bad, but Im looking for a job related to my major.

W: Oh, well, my friend needs a private science teacher. When are you available?

W: Then you could be a lab assistant or a teacher assistant. The pay is $20 an hour.

M: Thats actually a great idea. Where can I apply for these jobs?

W: Check on the university website. They post a ton of jobs there for us students.

W: If I remember right, go four blocks south to the shopping center. Once you get to the center, turn left, and keep walking. Just past a hospital you will see signs for the gym. Follow the signs. It is ten blocks west from there, if I remember well. Its a twenty-minute walk, or you can take a bus.

W: Im heading to the mall to meet friends. We can walk together. Ill show you where to turn.

M: Lovely. Thank you so much.

M: I like to choose holidays for long-distance hiking trips, about twice or three times a year. And usually this kind of hiking trip takes me at least 20 days.

W: Wow! Ive always wanted to do short hikes in mountains, but Im worried about the safety. Are there any dangerous animals like snakes?

M: Well, South Africa is famous for its many poisonous snakes. But in all my years of hiking, Ive never been bitten by one. For me Id be more concerned about the weather. If you chose the wrong time to go hiking, youd be very likely to get caught in a snowstorm and freeze to death.

Please remember that beginning this Wednesday, well be painting new lines to mark the parking spaces in the parking lot of our building. This means that for three days, you will be unable to park in your regular places. For other parking choices, you may park on any of the streets around our apartment building. Please note that on Thursday mornings, no cars are allowed to park on Kentucky Road because of street cleaning. Street cleaning hours are from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. You may park your cars on Delaware Avenue or New Jersey Street during this time. The painting of the parking lot will be completed by 5:00 pm on Friday. After this time, you are more than welcome to return your car to its regular place. We apologize for any difficulty that this may cause you, but we believe that you will be pleased with our newly painted parking lot.
