A crippled child

Said，“How shalll dance？”

Let your heart dance

We said.

Then the invalid said：

“How shalll sing？”

Let your heart sing

We said.

Then spoke the poor dead thistle，

“Butl，how shall I dance？”

Let your heart fly to the wind

We said.

Then God spoke from above，

“How shalll descend4 from the blue？”

Come dance for us here in thelight

We said.

All the valley is dancing

Together under the sun，

And the heart ofhim whojoins us not

Is turned to dust，to dust.

一個殘疾的孩子

加夫列拉·米斯特拉爾（Gabriela Mistral，1889-1957），出生于智利。她的抒情詩歌富有強烈感情。她在1945年榮獲諾貝爾文學獎，并成為拉丁美洲歷史上第一位獲得這一殊榮的詩人。
