With cool but not damp climate and the national Level II air quality due to its special location， Yantai is known as a“wonderland of mountains and sea” and “summer resort”.

It is a city with many beautiful mountains， including Kunyu Mountain， the “ancestor of immortal mountians on the sea”， Tiangu Mountain， the “Mount Huang in the north of the Yangtze River”， Yunfeng Mountain， the “famous mountain of calligraphy”， and Yantai Mountain， the “l(fā)andmark of the port city”， each with its unique characteristics.

It is also a city with rivers and sea. The over 1，000-kilometer golden coast， like a jade belt， encircles the over 230 islands such as Changshan Archipelago， Kongtong Island， and Yangma Island. More than 120 rivers meander throughout the land and converge into the sea. The rivers and sea complement each other and add beauty to the city.

It is also a city with a long history and rich culture. Here you can find the splendid marine culture， red culture， fairy Taoist culture and folk culture. First Emperior of Qin once visited Zhifu Island three times and Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty built a city to look north at Penglai Mountain.
