On December 4, 2022, the 9th China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (referred to as CCBF), under the guidance of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC (Shanghai Municipal Press and Publication Bureau), jointly sponsored by Shanghai Xinhua Distribution Group Co., Ltd., China Education Publishing amp; Media Group Ltd., and Global Press and Publication Development Co., Ltd., and organized by Shanghai Rongbo Exhibition Co., Ltd., officially came to an end. The low temperature and winter drizzle could not stop the enthusiasm of the children’s book writers and the readers from the meeting, communicating and appreciating. At the end of 2022, people got together, giving each other the courage and expectation for the new year!
As an Asia-Pacific exhibition focusing on publications for children 0--16 years old, Shanghai Children’s Book Fair has a recognized international identity and brand reputation. The international level of the exhibition, the setting of characteristic exhibition areas, and the planning and organization of professional events show world-class professionalism, and constantly promote the exploration and development of children’s publications in China.
Shanghai Children’s Book Fair showed up at the West Bund Art Center, attracting 63 groups and 192 enterprises from 17 countries and regions to participate and bring more than 30,000 of the latest children’s books at home and abroad. During the exhibition period, a total of 70 events, such as professional exchange, new book release, reading promotion, and live broadcast online, were held. By the end of the exhibition, the participation and exposure to the children’s book fair mini program, live events, and online topics exceeded 6 million.
As a global high-level children’s book copyright trading platform, this session of Shanghai Children’s Book Fair has attracted children’s book publishers and children-related cultural enterprises from 17 countries and regions, including China, Italy, France, Britain, Germany, Spain, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, Norway, South Korea, Slovenia, Guinea, Thailand, etc. It has brought new ideas and opportunities to professional audiences who are eager for high-quality children’s literature content, channel expansion, copyright trade, and children’s reading exchanges. On the spot, eight Italian children’s book publishers, jointly organized by Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE), received good feedback. The booth staff of the German Book Information Center set out from Beijing one week in advance, and sample books were brought after a long trip. The South Korean exhibition group organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) brought 80 varieties of original Korean children’s books. Reading Accompanies My Growth, a colored manual printed in advance, includes all the Korean novels, picture books and comic books that had sought cooperation this year. The Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai presented high-quality new books in English and French from 21 publishers, of which seven publishers came to the exhibition in Shanghai for the first time. The New Zealand Publishers Association and the Norwegian Literature Abroad (NORLA), as always, brought their high-quality children’s publications, so that professional audiences would enjoy themselves in the world of literature.
