Many people want to be a tree, watching the vicissitudes of the seasons and the changing world. I sometimes wish that I was a tree. In times of happiness I bloom beautifully, while in times of sadness, the leaves begin to fall off from me. In Bergen, Norway, I saw a lot of trees that appeared to be wearing colorful clothes with many striking patterns; when people walk by, they can’t help but stop and stand still, take photos with these colorful trees and smile alongside them. During my journey, I saw these trees from a distance and couldn’t help but rush over to look. The wood was so colorful and it was at this moment that I felt I was so close to my dream of becoming a tree.
In front of the wood is the entrance to the Fl?yen rope-way. The telpher is a means of transportation for countless residents in the mountain. They have become accustomed to living in this place, which has the magical appearance similar to that seen in an oil painting. I was sitting at the back of the telpher, and when it started, it felt like turning back the clock, with countless lights and scenery beginning to leap towards me. If you were to ask me if I could go back in time, where and when I would most likely go, I will always have the same answer – the year when I was in the third grade of elementary school. Back then my parents were still together, and the school was very close to home. My classmates and I would always take our own lunches to school, which was an exciting part of the day when I got to open my lunchbox and discover what my mother had cooked for me that day. Everyday, when I opened the lunchbox, I was very chuffed. I used to secretly eat a little of the delicious
food during breaks throughout the day so that by noon, my meal was already eaten up. So, when I ran home, my mother would scold me fondly and then continue to prepare more delicious food for me.
Afterwards, great changes took place in my family. Since then, I especially wished that I was a tree, which was rooted in the place where I grew up so that I didn’t need to wander from place to place or worry about separation, and I could just stand there and continue to grow upward. Now I have lived the life I dreamed of since I was young, traveling around the world and seeing these colorfully clothed trees in my heart. It is as though someone understood the strange and resigned expectation that I had when I was young. So, I am very grateful to the city of Bergen for allowing me to imagine myself as those trees. Later, I found out that these trees and their colorful clothes were actually an exhibition. Through this colorful exhibition, an artist expected that people would treat and accept each other kindly. The world is colorful in the eyes of the artist, and every color should be treated with kindness and acceptance.
In Bergen, Norway, I found countless beautiful girls waiting in long lines to attend a birthday party. With broken English, I asked them how they felt about living in Bergen. Each of the girls answered carefully and happily. They loved life in Bergen, because it is relaxing and pleasant. The temperature of a city depends on people’s love for it. I liked to stand in front of these small houses and observe people’s facial expressions. When I met someone who walked their dog, they would enthusiastically tell me their puppies’ names with a benevolent smile like an old friend. Even if I did not buy anything in the fish market, the enthusiastic retailer would grab a king crab and take a photo with me. I travel very quickly, and I often leave a city in a hurry before I know it well, but Bergen makes me want to stay longer and develop a better understanding of it. I would sit quietly in front of the colorful houses, watch people come and go, and imagine their stories here.
Everyone is like a ray of light in the city, and we glimmer every night. Looking down on the earth, we are also like small stars, numerous but unique. Everyone hopes to remove a regret in their hearts. We can by no means go back to that moment, but we can work hard to plant a seed of dreams. When it grows into a towering tree, it can protect the people you were unable to, and then it can bloom as you want and bear those fruits that you like.
During my trip in Norway, the weather was so changable between rainy days and sunny ones. When it rained, the entire fjord and mountainside were shrouded in fog, like a painting with the colors of autumn. When walking in it, one would feel a little bit cold and become sentimental, but the landscape before your eyes was wonderful. On sunny days Norway was bright and colorful, which made me want to get closer to nature. The ancient glaciers and those small waterfalls cascading from heaven were so overwhelming that I would not help but squeal. Many people have asked me what I plan to do after traveling far enough. I think life is a journey. Some are on the move to see the world, and some are walking on the road in various parts of the world. Only we know best what we want in the future. We all need to work hard to make our own dreams come true. I don’t know what" I will achieve in We-Media but I do know that I just want to help people from different places realize their dreams – after I protect you from the wind and rain like a tree, you will be willing to put on colorful clothes for me.
