    Abstract The training system of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents emphasizes "people-oriented and morality first". As the pillars of the national cause of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, agricultural and forestry college students not only share the commonness of ordinary college students, but also have the special attribute of professional group. This requires that ideological and political educators must pay attention to the particularity of this group of college students, so as to carry out ideological and political education work. Thus it can be seen that exploring the ideological and political education model in line with the characteristics of this kind of college students is of great practical significance to achieving the goal of moral education of excellent agricultural and forestry talents, to enhancing the effect of ideological and political education of agricultural and forestry college students and to promoting the all-round development of agricultural and forestry college students.

    1 Introduction

    Studying the ideological and political education mode of college students majoring in agricultural and forestry under the excellent agricultural and forestry talent training plan and exploring the ideological and political education path is helpful for us to organically combine the training theory of excellent agricultural and forestry talents with educational practice according to the actual situation. From the perspective of the theoretical research of ideological and political education, the purpose of model research is to explain and understand the practical activities of ideological and political education.

    From the perspective of practical research on ideological and political education, model research is a high degree of generalization and theoretical promotion of practical activities. In addition, the study on the model of ideological and political education of college students majoring in agriculture and forestry is conducive to promoting the specialization, refinement and systematization of the model of ideological and political education of college students in this professional group, so as to promote the research on the model of ideological and political education of college students to become more and more mature and perfect.

In order to cultivate outstanding agricultural and forestry talents, we must adhere to the scientific concept of development as the guide, adhere to the reform and development direction of serving "agriculture, rural areas and farmers", and adhere to the basic principles of reform and innovation, highlighting characteristics, strengthening practice, classified guidance and overall promotion.     3 The application strategy of ideological and political course in the cultivation of garden and horticulture majors under the excellent agricultural and forestry talent training system
