英國(guó)駐重慶總領(lǐng)事史云森：希望向英國(guó)講好中國(guó)西南的故事

61歲的史云森于今年11月16日正式出任英國(guó)駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館總領(lǐng)事一職。在從事外交工作之前，他是一名橋梁工程師，曾在東南亞、中東和加勒比海地區(qū)從事建筑行業(yè)超過(guò)30年。1984年，他在科威特參加工程項(xiàng)目時(shí)，第一次與來(lái)自中國(guó)的建筑同行共事，從此開(kāi)啟了他與中國(guó)的不解之緣。2014至2018年，史云森在英國(guó)駐中國(guó)大使館英國(guó)國(guó)際貿(mào)易部擔(dān)任公使銜參贊。

史云森第一次來(lái)重慶是在10年前，再次來(lái)到這里工作，他感到重慶發(fā)生了巨大變化，同時(shí)也覺(jué)得重慶極富動(dòng)感，美麗的夜景讓他印象深刻。他也非常喜歡重慶的美食和友好的人們。他表示，希望在接下來(lái)的工作和生活期間，能夠更好地了解這座城市。

史云森說(shuō)，他將在任期內(nèi)促進(jìn)中英雙方在貿(mào)易、人文方面交流，加深政府拓展對(duì)話，加深互相了解。同時(shí)，他也將促進(jìn)更多的英國(guó)企業(yè)與重慶等西南地區(qū)城市，在醫(yī)療、教育、新能源汽車等領(lǐng)域展開(kāi)合作，也歡迎更多的重慶企業(yè)去英國(guó)考察。

談及“成渝地區(qū)雙城經(jīng)濟(jì)圈”，史云森認(rèn)為，“成渝雙城經(jīng)濟(jì)圈得到國(guó)內(nèi)外很高的關(guān)注度。英國(guó)駐重慶總領(lǐng)館有義務(wù)向英國(guó)政府和企業(yè)，分享、介紹相關(guān)的發(fā)展政策和潛力，以便找到更好的合作機(jī)遇?！?/p>

史云森說(shuō)，希望向英國(guó)講好中國(guó)西南地區(qū)的故事，向中國(guó)西南地區(qū)人民講好英國(guó)的故事。他認(rèn)為，加深雙方對(duì)彼此文化、歷史及現(xiàn)狀等方面的了解是非常重要的，這也是英國(guó)駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館工作的根基。

史云森介紹，2021年英國(guó)將舉辦聯(lián)合國(guó)第26屆氣候變化大會(huì)，中國(guó)昆明將舉辦聯(lián)合國(guó)第15屆生物多樣性大會(huì)。屆時(shí)，英國(guó)駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館將會(huì)策劃很多與生物多樣性相關(guān)的文化活動(dòng)，提高公眾對(duì)這個(gè)話題的認(rèn)知。也希望能在這個(gè)領(lǐng)域發(fā)現(xiàn)更多與中國(guó)合作的可能性。

The 61-year-old Stephen Ellison officially assumed the post of Consul General of the British Consulate in Chongqing on November 16 this year. Prior to his diplomacy career， he used to be a bridge engineer and worked in the construction industry in Southeast Asia， the Middle East and the Caribbean for over 30 years. In 1984， when participating in an engineering project in Kuwait， he worked with architectural colleagues from China for the first time， which unveiled his indissoluble bond with China. From 2014 to 2018， Stephen Ellison served as the Minister-Counselor of the Department of International Trade at the British Embassy in China.

Comparing his first visit to Chongqing 10 years ago and his current experience here， Ellison is impressed by the tremendous changes， the great dynamism and the splendid night views of the city. Enthusiastic about the food and the friendly local people， he expressed the interest to better understand the city in the future work and life here.

He said that he would promote trade and cultural exchanges between China and UK during his tenure， and at the same time deepen the government dialogue and mutual understanding. Meanwhile， he will also propel more British companies to cooperate with Chongqing and other southwestern cities in the fields of healthcare， education， and new energy vehicles and welcome more Chinese companies to visit the UK.

Speaking of the "Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle"， Ellison believed that the Circle has received much attention from home and abroad. The British Consulate General in Chongqing is obliged to share and introduce relevant development policies and potentials to the British government and enterprises in order to identify better opportunities for China-UK cooperation."

Ellison said that he wished to tell stories of Southwest China to the UK well and vice versa. He deemed it is very important for two sides to deepen their understanding of each other's culture， history and status quo. This is also the work foundation of the British Consulate in Chongqing.

Having introduced that the United Kingdom will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference UK 2021， and Kunming， China will host the 15th 2020 UN Biodiversity Conference， he explained that at that time， the British Consulate-General in Chongqing will plan a myriad of cultural activities related to biodiversity to increase public awareness of this topic. He also wished to identify more cooperation possibilities with China in this field.
