你準(zhǔn)備停留多久呢？

—How long are you staying？ 你將停留多久呢？

—Four weeks. 四個星期。

—May I ask what brought you here？ 請問你為什么來這兒呢？

—Im here on business. 我是出公差而來。

—What line of business are you in？ 你從事什么行業(yè)呢？

—I import canned food. 我進口罐頭食品。

注意：

在英文中問“頻率”不能用“How long...”，因為“How long...”是表示“持久的一段時間”。像公共汽車這種每隔一段時間開一班，有“頻率”含義的“多久”就得用“How often...”來表示。

例句：

—How often does the bus come？ 公共汽車多久來一班呢？

—Every ten minutes. 每十分鐘。

如果你不介意，我真希望不要那樣做。

—Do you mind if I open the window？ 如果我打開窗戶你介意嗎？

—If you dont mind， Id rather you didnt. I have a cold and feel chilly. 如果你不介意，我真希望不要那樣做。因為我感冒了，覺得有點冷。

—Oh， thats too bad. Should I call a doctor？ 哦，真糟糕。要我打電話請醫(yī)生來嗎？

—Ill appreciate it if you will. 如果你這樣做我會很感激你。

—OK. 好吧。

注意：

If you dont mind， Id rather you didnt. 如果你不介意，我真希望不要那樣做。

該句是個省略句，它原來是這樣的：

If you dont mind， Id rather （that） you didnt open the window.

=I wish （that） you wouldnt open the window.
