The Survival of the Hurricane

“As you can see， a hurricane is coming here toward Orlando Florida，” the newscaster2 had said. At that time， my sister was pregnant3 with my niece. When my cousins and I heard that there was a hurricane， we ran into the closet4. My brother and two sisters looked at us like we were crazy. My brother Darron said， “What are you guys doing？ The hurricane is not here yet！” I had said， “But they said a hurricane was coming this way.” My two sisters said， “Yeah， it is coming this way， but it is not coming until tomorrow！” “Oh， I knew that， I just wanted to see if you knew that！” I had said with a giggle5. My cousins decided to go to the pool. When we got into the pool， my brother started to make waves like we were in the beach. “Darron， STOP！ Gosh， this is getting annoying，” I had screamed. He looked at me confused.

“如你所見，颶風(fēng)正在向奧蘭多佛羅里達(dá)洲方向靠近?！毙侣剤蟮绬T說。那時候，我妹妹還懷著我的外甥女。當(dāng)我和堂妹聽到有颶風(fēng)將要來襲的消息時，我們跑進(jìn)了一個小房間。我哥哥和兩個姐姐看著我們，覺得好像我們瘋了一樣。我哥哥達(dá)倫問：“你們在干什么？颶風(fēng)還沒來呢?！蔽艺f：“但是他們說颶風(fēng)正朝著這個方向來了?！蔽覂蓚€姐妹也說：“沒錯，是朝著正方向來了，但是至少明天才會到這里的！”我只能咯咯一笑地說：“我知道，我就是想看你們知不知道而已?！蔽姨妹脹Q定去泳池那邊。我們過去的時候，我哥哥開始搗蛋，就像我們在沙灘上的時候一樣。我對他叫喊道：“達(dá)倫，快停下來，天哪，煩死人了！”他疑惑地看著我。

As I was getting out of the pool， the sky started getting dark. I wrapped the towel around me and my brother said， “Come on， we are going home.” “Why？” my cousin asked. My brother said， “Because it is about to rain and it is not good to be in the pool when it is raining.” “Oh， OK.” We walked to the house. When we got in the house， I jumped in the shower and so did my cousin after me. After we took our shower， we sat down and watched some movies.

當(dāng)我出泳池的時候，天開始變暗了。我往身上裹好毛巾，聽見哥哥說：“走吧，我們回家吧?！碧妹脝柕溃骸盀槭裁?？”哥哥說：“因為要下雨了，下雨的時候待在泳池里面不好?！薄芭?，那好吧?！比缓笪覀兓氐轿堇锩妗＿M(jìn)屋以后，我趕快洗了一個澡，我堂妹也跟著去洗澡。我們洗完澡以后，坐下來看了幾部電影。

The next day， we were watching the news and it said， “Hurricane Charlie will be hitting Orlando Florida this afternoon！” Me and my cousin looked each other and screamed， “Ahhhhhhhhhhhh！” My two sisters and brother said， “Shut up！Gosh， it is not that serious！” We started laughing and we left the room. My brother came out behind us and told us to put our bathing suits on. We said， “Why？” He had responded， “Because you guys are going to run in the rain before the hurricane come！” We looked at him like he had two heads and went to go put our bathing suits on and went outside. As we went outside， it started to poor down raining. While it was raining， we ran around the building complex6. It was so much fun running in the rain.

第二天，我們看新聞?wù)f：“查理號颶風(fēng)將會在今天下午抵達(dá)奧蘭多佛羅里達(dá)洲！”我和堂妹相互看了彼此一眼，驚聲尖叫道：“啊……！”我的兩個姐妹和哥哥說：“別叫了，天哪！還沒那么嚴(yán)重?！蔽覀冎缓眯α诵Γ缓箅x開了這個房間。我哥哥隨我們出來，然后叫我們把泳衣穿上。我問：“為什么？”他回答說：“因為颶風(fēng)來臨前，你們要在雨中奔跑。”我疑惑地看著他，就好像他有兩個腦袋一樣，然后穿上泳衣出去了。當(dāng)我們走到外面的時候，已經(jīng)下起了傾盆大雨。下雨的時候，我們在密集的建筑物間奔跑著，覺得在雨中奔跑很有趣。

As we got back in the house， my sisters came back， too. It started to thunder and poor down hard. My brother told us to go with him to move the car. As soon as I stepped foot outside， I started to slip. I said， “Oh， no. I am not going out there！” So I went back inside. The next day， we looked outside and saw trees on top of cars， houses， stores and everything. We had no electricity， hot water， or gas. My mother came down from New York and started packing out things. Since we did not have hot water， we were bathing in cold water， and we did not have any gas， so we grilled7 or ate out for the couple of days we were down there.

我們剛回到家，姐姐們也回來了。外面開始打雷，雨越下越大了。我哥哥叫我們跟他一起去挪車。我剛準(zhǔn)備出去，腳開始打滑。我說：“不，我不出去了”！于是我又回到屋內(nèi)。第二天，我們看著外面，車上、房子上、店鋪上到處都是樹枝落葉。家里沒有電，沒有熱水，也沒有天然氣。我媽媽剛從紐約回來就開始收拾東西。因為沒有熱水，我們只能洗個冷水澡;沒有天然氣，我們這幾天只能烤東西吃或出去吃。

Couple of days later， we drove down to New York. It took us a week to get to New York; we stopped at a beach to catch up on some sleep. We got back on the road 4：00 in the morning. Finally， we got to New York！

幾天之后，我們開車回了紐約。我們差不多花了一周的時間才到，因為中途我們停在一個沙灘邊休息了一會兒。我們凌晨四點的時候開始上路，最后終于抵達(dá)紐約了！

When I got home， I was happy to lie in my bed and to be home and so was my family.

回到家，我很開心，一下就躺在床上。我的家人也很開心我們回來了。
