神秘的巨石陣

Stonehenge is in the south（南部） of England. Who built（建造） it？ How did they build it？ Why did they build it？ No one knows. It’s a mystery（謎）.

People built Stonehenge about 5，000 years ago. It is Stone Age（石器時(shí)代）. That’s long before the wheel（輪子） was invented（被發(fā)明）. Some stones（石頭） were heavy. They came from mountains（山脈） 250 kilometers（千米） away. The largest one weighs（重達(dá)） about 40 tons（噸）. That’s like ten elephants.

How did early humans（人類） transport（運(yùn)送） the stones？ Some experts（專家） say people used（使用） ships and other tools（工具）. At that time，it would take（花費(fèi)） 10，000 people one year to work.

Why did people build it？ Maybe it was a place for studying（研究） the sun and the stars. Maybe it was also a temple（寺廟）.

It’s still a special（特別的） place for some people today. Every year，on June 21，lots of people go there to celebrate（慶祝） the longest day of the year.
